Short Description

We are looking for a Vessel Operations Coordinator  to support bulk liquid chemical marine transport and inland barge operations for our business units and JV partners. In this role, you will coordinate chartering activities, ensure smooth voyage execution, and maintain strong communication with all parties involved in marine logistics.

 

What You Will Do

 

Client & Customer Management (External & Internal)

  • Ensure customer requirements are incorporated into Contract of Affreightment (COA) execution.
  • Communicate voyage nominations and operational updates to vessel owners, agents, terminals, and service providers.
  • Act as regional liaison with Chevron Shipping, Marine Services, product lines, JV partners, and Supply Chain teams.

Supply Chain & Marine Services Coordination

  • Ensure required service levels from marine service providers and suppliers.
  • Consolidate regional needs and communicate them to Marine Services and Houston HQ.
  • Support forecasting, planning, and budget‑related activities.

Operational Management

  • Provide 24/7 post‑fixture operational support and coordinate day‑to‑day vessel and barge operations.
  • Lead chartering activities, voyage coordination, claim & demurrage handling, and discharge monitoring.
  • Manage communication with brokers, ship owners, terminals, and surveyors to optimize marine logistics.
  • Resolve supply disruptions, including off‑spec handling, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in S&OP meetings to align operational plans with business needs.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Use established systems to gather and analyze data.
  • Prepare accurate operational and tactical reports to support decision‑making.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and systems.
  • Contribute as subject matter expert to cross‑functional improvement projects.

 

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or proven shipping chemical industry experience preferred.
  • 4–7 years’ experience in marine or port operations, chartering, or related logistics functions.
  • Strong understanding of charter parties, vetting, claims, and demurrage.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication abilities and stakeholder management experience.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Excel, and data analysis tools.
