Responsibilities
As a Research Technician, you will execute laboratory and bench-scale experiments that support innovative research projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize experimental units, equipment, and apparatus, ensuring alignment with safety and quality standards.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data, supporting decision-making processes and the strategic direction of research initiatives.
- Manage the safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemical substances, adhering to regulatory requirements and company protocols.
- Perform basic mechanical tasks such as tubing, fitting, and valve assembly, utilizing hand tools with precision.
- Manage the preparation and submission of samples for various analyses, evaluating results to inform ongoing research strategies.
- Maintain detailed and accurate research records and safety documentation to ensure traceability and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct routine safety inspections within the laboratory setting, proactively identifying and resolving any safety concerns to maintain a secure work environment.
- Support field trial activities by providing technical guidance and insights that enhance process validation and product performance.
This role requires a balance of hands-on technical proficiency, mentorship capabilities, and commitment to safe laboratory practices that collectively advance Chevron Phillips Chem, LP's research objectives.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma, General Educational Development program (GED) or appropriate on-the-job training.
Experience in operating, calibrating, maintaining and troubleshooting lab equipment, and performing experimental procedures on polymer or plastics and hazardous chemicals. Typically possesses zero to two years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Process Technology or other applicable technical degree
- Previous experience in a laboratory/research setting
- Able to read and interpret process flow diagrams and process & instrumentation diagrams.
- Knowledge and familiarity with gas chromatographs
- Knowledge and experience with continuous, bench-scale unit operations
- Knowledge and familiarity with handling flammable and hazardous materials
