Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to join the Environmental, Health, Safety, & Security (EHS&S) team for the Golden Triangle Polymers (GTP) facility located in Orange, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up.
The Industrial Hygienist is responsible for managing the industrial hygiene elements of the Plant Health and Hygiene Program, with emphasis on the anticipation, recognition, identification, evaluation, and control of occupational health hazards, as well as ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. In addition, the Industrial Hygienist is expected to contribute to the overall safety function by applying occupational safety knowledge, collaborating within a team environment, and providing support on OSHA interpretation and site-specific application as needed and assigned.
Responsibilities
- Develops tools, workflows, and systems to compile compliance records
- Maintains and improves monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting for industrial hygiene compliance
- Collaborates with management to resolve occupational health issues
- Supports occupational health programs and policies; includes managing both office and field ergonomics and establishing specialized PPE recommendations
- Executes biological, physical and chemical monitoring programs
- Trains on occupational health and safety training programs; including industrial hygiene instrumentation and local procedures
- Maintains current knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
- Establishes Similar Exposure Groups for monitoring; Assesses employee exposure to health risks
- Supports Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and Laser Safety Officer (LSO) and performs field and recordkeeping tasks
- Supports regulatory reporting (e.g., TIER II, TSCA regulations)
- Manages industrial hygiene instrumentation and calibration
- Provides guidance to less experienced team members
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in science
- 3 - 5 years of industrial hygiene experience
Preferred Qualifications
• CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification
• CIH (certified industrial hygienist)
• Experience with Cority® safety, medical, and IH modules
• Experience with emergency response situations
• Industrial radiation (radioactive sources, NORM, etc.) experience
• RSO certification
