Introduction
Join CPChem as a Control System Technician, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our manufacturing operations in Pasadena. This position within the Manufacturing & Projects SBU provides an exciting opportunity to work with advanced Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) integral to our production efficiency and safety. As a dedicated member of the Maintenance & Support Services division, you will apply your expertise to ensure our control systems operate reliably and effectively, supporting both ongoing operations and new project implementations.

Responsibilities
- Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly PMs on the DCS and PLC systems to maintain the integrity of the system
- Performs minor software program modifications on computer and microprocessor systems such as DCS (DeltaV, etc) and PLC (Modicon, Allen Bradley, Triconex)
- Assists Control Systems Specialists and IEC Engineers with design and implementation of projects that involve modification to control systems
- Leads the execution of MICE Instrumented Protective Systems (IPS) PMs to maintain the integrity of the system
- Consults with operations and I&E maintenance personnel to determine remedies for problems associated with malfunctioning control system instrumentation and recommends corrective action
- Assists in the checkout of instrument control loops in existing plants or plant expansions and works with contractors to insure proper installation
- Provides 24-hour on call Control Systems support
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in instrumentation or electronics from an accredited trade school or junior college; alternatively, a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in maintenance and support of DCS and PLC equipment.
- Solid foundational knowledge of electronic theory and digital logic, underpinning effective troubleshooting and system analysis.
- Proven ability to instruct and mentor maintenance personnel in advanced troubleshooting techniques and standard maintenance procedures, fostering team competence and knowledge sharing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge in Chemistry
- Familiarization with process type of control instrumentation
- Working knowledge of SAP
- Working knowledge of Management of Change (MOC)
- Familiarization with programming languages (Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text)
