Introduction
Join CPC - Performance Pipe as an Electronics Technician in our Polymers & Specialties division, located in Reno. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic industrial environment, balancing technical expertise with operational support to optimize process efficiency and safety. You will be an essential part of a collaborative team dedicated to maintaining and enhancing our advanced process control and instrumentation systems, ensuring continuous production excellence.
As an Electronics Technician, you will apply your proficiency in instrumentation, electrical systems, and control technologies to maintain and troubleshoot a wide range of analytical and control equipment vital to our operations. This role demands a proactive approach to identifying challenges, delivering timely solutions, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that uphold our commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Analyzer Technician Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and calibration on process and environmental analyzers, ensuring 24/7 operational readiness.
- Accurately document all repairs, parts procurement, and maintenance activities within SAP, maintaining clear and compliant records.
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of facility safety procedures and operational policies to enhance workplace safety and productivity.
- Engage in Process Hazard Reviews (PHRs) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) as part of safety compliance efforts.
- Provide reliable, around-the-clock analytical system support during plant upsets and outages to minimize downtime.
- Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) to validate system performance after installations or upgrades.
Control Systems Technician Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) on Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to safeguard system integrity and reliability.
- Install and upgrade hardware related to control system modifications and expansions, ensuring seamless integration.
- Support instrument control loop commissioning activities and collaborate with contractors to verify correct installations and functionality.
- Troubleshoot and repair control system hardware, including analog and digital electronic card modules.
- Offer technical support to instrumentation and electrical teams to resolve complex instrumentation problems.
- Provide 24-hour on-call support for control systems during operational disruptions and emergency situations.

Instrument Technician/Mechanic Responsibilities:
- Repair, calibrate, and maintain flow, pressure, level, temperature, and differential pressure transmitters with precision.
- Adjust and tune various process control instruments and controllers to maintain optimal operation.
- Install and remove both field-mounted and panel-mounted instrumentation and devices, maintaining adherence to safety standards.
- Manage pneumatic and digital valve controller (DVC) actuated control valves including pulling, repairing, and calibration.
- Set and verify the operation of pressure, temperature, flow, and level switches and associated monitoring equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on a diverse range of process instruments, including but not limited to dry additive feeders.
Electrician Responsibilities:
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies in daily activities.
- Handle installation, removal, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment, including systems up to 138kV.
- Install electrical infrastructure such as conduit, wiring, supports, and associated hardware to meet operational needs.
- Perform preventive maintenance on medium voltage equipment including 480 volt motor starters, motors up to 8000 HP, UPS systems and batteries, variable speed drives (AC/DC), and electrical motors ensuring minimum downtime.
- Support minor electrical projects, working collaboratively with engineering and operations teams to accomplish project goals efficiently and safely.
Required Qualifications
Electrical
3 years of medium to high voltage experience in an industrial or heavy commercial setting with one of the following:
- Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology
- Level II NETA or higher or equivalent certification
- Journeyman Electrician License
Preferred Qualifications
- Instrumentation experience using diagnostic and calibration tools such as TREX systems, various meters, and pumps.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and installing complex control valves and coriolis flow meters.
- Controls expertise in programming and troubleshooting PLCs (Triconex, Allen Bradley, Modicon) and Distributed Control Systems (Honeywell, DeltaV, Yokogawa).
- Hands-on knowledge of Siemens Gas Chromatographs, Yokogawa Gas Analyzers, sample systems, and detection systems for oxygen and hydrocarbons.
- Electrical skills in diagnosing and locating faults within circuits, components, and equipment, alongside motor starter and switch gear troubleshooting for both AC and DC systems.
- Experience programming and troubleshooting Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), enhancing system performance and reliability.
