Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) is seeking a Joint Venture (JV) Turnaround Advisor to provide technical and strategic oversight and to support local turnaround management during turnaround activities at CPChem’s domestic and international joint ventures. This role ensures alignment with CPChem turnaround standards, governance requirements, and applicable industry best practices across JV turnaround events. Serving as CPChem’s representative within the joint venture, the advisor promotes consistent application of CPChem turnaround processes while fostering effective collaboration with JV partners. The successful candidate brings deep turnaround expertise, a strong understanding of joint venture partnership dynamics, and the ability to influence without direct authority to drive safe, reliable, and cost‑effective turnaround execution.

 

The Turnaround Advisor will initially be located in Saudi to support the S-Chem turnaround outage, then move to other locations, both international and domestic, to support future turnarounds. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Advises on JV turnaround activities; provides guidance at all phases of the turnaround process including but not limited to daily activities, removal of barriers to execution responsibilities, and development of personnel.
  • Provides subject matter expertise for all aspects of TA Estimating, Cost Forecasting, TA development and execution using the CPChem turnaround processes and industry best practices.
  • Works closely with General Manager of Manufacturing Excellence, Controls COE Manager, and JV Turnaround Manager to establish policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Works with Turnaround Managers and Coordinators to establish and/or follow corporate standards for all turnaround activities at all phases of a turnaround event.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 10 years of plant or manufacturing experience
  • At least 10 years of experience with turnarounds in a manufacturing environment
  • Execution experience with large petrochemical projects and turnarounds
  • Demonstrated experience managing aggressive milestone compliance / targets
  • Working knowledge of industry turnaround best practices
  • Proven results in turnarounds – all phases

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering or advanced degree
  • At least 15 years of experience with turnarounds in a manufacturing environment
  • At least 10 years of ethylene plant and/or plastics plant experience with specific emphasis in turnarounds
  • At least 10 years of management experience in a turnaround environment
  • International turnaround experiences
  • Demonstrated ability to lead medium to large execution groups (150-400 persons)
  • Experience with joint venture activities and governance
