Title: ENGINEER - INSTRUMENT

Purpose/Introduction
Designs and implements manufacturing technology to automate manufacturing production processes and equipment to achieve process safety and business objectives. Responsible for all design changes and reliability initiatives related to instrumentation, electrical (<480V), and associated controls.
Responsibilities
Performs the activities, may include but not limited to:
• Responsible for efforts to maintain equipment availability at highest operating level feasible, including the research\communication of new technologies and maintenance practices.
• Provides technical leadership and support to the Instrument, and Electrical, maintenance groups as required.
• Applies appropriate reliability tools (i.e., Worst Actor Program, FMEA, RBI, RBM, RCM, Reliability Roadmap, etc.) to drive improvements, optimize costs, and improve asset availability.
• Responsible for the development of Critical Equipment list and Critical Spares Inventory recommendations. This includes monitoring and optimizing the stores system for future site-wide needs.
• Participates in incident investigations to discover root cause of problems and implements corrective actions to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future.
• Responsible for effectiveness of analytical techniques for detecting and diagnosing problems in Instrumentation equipment.
• Ensures all instrumentation equipment has an accurate criticality defined. • Develops and maintains history and performance to reveal bad & worst actors. Communicates findings and implements resolutions on time.
• Supports the life cycle effort for instrumentation.
• Participates and provides advice in developing plans for major shutdowns, construction or alteration projects.
• Responsible for the discipline engineering and design for capital and expense projects adhering to sound life cycle management principles, site engineering standards, and industry best practices. • Provides project management support for small capital and expense projects with instrumentation as majority of scope.
• Supports the execution of plant MOC (Management of change), including updated document review and project closeout.
• Executes Quality Assurance, Quality Control activities (FAT, SAT, Loop sells, etc.).
• Prepares technical reports and studies as directed by manager. • Strictly follows established environmental, health, safety and quality policies and procedures in order to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/services and a responsible environmental attitude.
• Undertakes accountabilities in the operational excellence process as set out in the schedule of responsibilities.
• Contributes to the processes of continuous improvement for the area assigned.
• Performs any other relevant task as directed by Lead Engineer Instrument.
Required Qualifications
- Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Instrument Engineering is prefered.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in Instrument Engineering "prefered related experience in petrochemical and/or oil & gas sectors".
Skills/Performance Indicators
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
