Instrument, Electrical and Controls Engineer

Th primary responsibility of IEC Engineer is to provide instrumentation, electrical, and controls engineering day to day support and the preparation and execution of the instrument, electrical, and control portions of small projects for the Cedar Bayou Complex.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Operating reliability and data analysis.
  • Resolve and plan for obsolescence issues concerning the facilities instrumentation, electrical, and control systems.
  • Design and execute smaller maintenance/reliability-type projects including modification and/or addition to facilities DCS, PLC, field instrumentation and control, motor control systems, and process analytical systems.
  • Development maintenance and reliability programs and procedures.
  • Maintain an effective rapport with Maintenance, Operations, Field support, and Project Engineering groups.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • The position requires the ability to multi-task, organize their work, and meet the facilities work schedules. In addition, the candidate must possess excellent leadership skills and demonstrate the ability to interact well with others.


Minimum Competencies/Requirements:

 

  • Electrical Safe Work Practices (NFPA 70E)
  • Interpret the National Electric Code
  • Follow Cedar Bayou’s specific practices, standards, guidelines, and procedures for preparation of estimates, scopes, specifications, design, and other deliverables
  • Develop hardware, software, functional and user specifications for IEC systems and associated components
  • Evaluate all IEC aspects of engineering to ensure all project objectives including safety, technical correctness, budget, constructability, schedule, maintainability, and operability are met
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines/departments, customers and vendors/suppliers to ensure successful development and execution of projects
  • Review and approve IEC specifications, drawings and other documentation; assist in compiling construction packages
  • Provide field support, and participate in check out, commissioning and start up.
