Chevron Phillips Chemical Company is seeking an experienced chemical engineer to fill a process engineer position in the Global Process Engineering organization within Research & Technology. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert providing process design, analysis, and innovation to major capital projects and licensing opportunities. The core process technologies include loop slurry polyolefins, alpha olefins, on-purpose benzene and sulfur-based specialty chemicals.  The job duties include: 

 

  • Preparing process designs and initial front-end engineering for projects including scoping, preliminary analyses, economic analysis and process engineering.
  • Working on a technical project team to support and implement executed licenses – Process Design Package (PDP) development; Working with and overseeing contractors, technical services, etc. potentially located at an engineering contractor office.
  • Providing engineering expertise to licensees and responding to inquiries related to process design, engineering standards, equipment, controls and instrumentation.
  • Providing subject matter expertise for EHS, PSM, and OE activities.  Includes PHA/LOPA/HAZOP studies, personnel safety considerations, and typical industry environmental and safety practices.
  • Using various process models as well as developing new tools and patent ideas.
  • Assisting and mentoring junior personnel in daily work activities. 

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required
  • 15+ years’ engineering experience with some process experience in loop slurry polyolefins
  • Experience working with and/or directing engineering contractors
  • Experience using process modeling software

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Master's Degree and/or PhD
  • Controls and instrumentation experience
