We are seeking an Equipment Inspector to join our team in at our chemical plant in Sweeny, Texas.  The Equipment Inspector is responsible for developing and administering equipment inspection programs designed to ensure the reliability of plant fixed equipment.  This is accomplished through the use of routine monitoring programs, periodic internal and external inspections, and nondestructive examination.  This position will also be responsible for the QC examinations of mechanical work in progress to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and job specific requirements.  This position verifies the proper procedures, materials, qualified personnel, and acceptable conditions are used for mechanical work.  This position will also write or be trained to write hot work permits for operations/ maintenance personnel within the facility. 

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

 

  • Understand and promote the concept of proactive safety and take personal responsibility to meet the overall goal of zero incidents.
  • Develop inspection plans for routine and turnaround maintenance.
  • Manage fixed equipment data within Meridium and SAP.
  • Participate in audits and inspections at contractor shops to ensure quality of new and repaired fixed equipment.
  • Perform inspections of fixed equipment and develop repair recommendations.
  • Develop repair scopes and procedures for fixed equipment in assigned area.
  • Work with fixed equipment engineer to develop pressure vessel and piping repair plans for welded repairs.
  • Write hot work permits within the facility which also includes providing guidance and assistance with isolating equipment.

 

Position requires individual to be on-call during weekends and holidays as per the designated on-call schedule.

 

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A minimum of five years pressure vessel and piping inspection experience in the petrochemical or refining industry
  • Certifications in API 510 and API 570
  • Good computer skills coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of required fixed equipment codes and standards

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASNT Level II certifications (UT, PT & RT film Int. minimum, VT, MT)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of welding and NDT methods
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with Meridium
