Purpose/Introduction

We are seeking an Electronics & Analyzer Technician to join our team in Borger, Texas. 

The position is responsible for completing skilled maintenance, calibration and repair work on a variety of analytical instruments deployed at the facility including on-stream, off-stream and portable instruments. The scope of work also includes assisting, as needed, in maintaining functionality of some of the analyzers in in the Operations Laboratory and other specialized equipment throughout the Borger site.

Job activities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting routine monitoring and maintenance to provide the highest possible on-stream availability and reliable operation of all analyzer systems.
  • Reporting problems and possible solutions to supervisor and customers.
  • Receiving instructions, work orders and safe permits for the troubleshooting, repair, calibration, replacement or overhaul requirements of analyzers, probes, and sensors.
  • Completing modifications, changes and data collection of analyzers and sample systems.
  • Performing routine monitoring of sample handling and conditioning systems and carrier/calibration gas cylinder replacements.
  • Maintain calibration gases for analyzers.
  • Liaise daily with Supervisor and Operations personnel; and
  • Ensure that all the work is carried-out in accordance with the safe working procedures, basic maintenance procedures, safety permits and regulations
  • Performs regulatory required environmental compliance testing and maintains documentation
  • This position will serve as a Radiation Safety Officer and Laser Safety Officer and must attend required training to maintain current certification

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Provide troubleshooting, condition monitoring, basic repair service, spare parts management, and equipment replacement for various specialized equipment systems at the Borger site including:
    • Plant radios
    • Plant Security Cameras
    • Plant weigh scales
    • Personal H2S Monitors and docking calibration stations
    • Portable gas monitoring devices
    • Plant audible alarm system
    • Personal accounting badging system
    • Plant access control systems including gate controllers, turnstiles, and magnetic badge locking devices
    • Radio communication networks utilized for offsite equipment monitoring
    • Flare Flame detection systems
    • Nuclear level devices
    • Computerized Drum and Bag filling systems
  • This position may receive off hour or weekend calls as required to ensure reliable operation of systems critical to plant operation.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of relevant experience in plant troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance OR Associate Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics or equivalent field with 5 years of experience in plant troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance.
  • The candidate must have the ability to read piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), technical manuals, and other process safety information. 
  • The candidate must be able to work independently of others, demonstrate excellent organizational skills and be able to evaluate and prioritize multiple tasks to ensure alignment with plant goals while acting with a sense of urgency (when required). 
  • Key competencies and skills the candidate must possess include strong oral, verbal and written communication skills. 
  • The candidate must be customer-focused and results-driven and have the ability to effectively collaborate and work with personnel at various levels throughout the company. 
  • Excellent computer skills (especially experience with Microsoft Office products) are required.
  • Strong Mechanical aptitude and ability to conduct research to learn and remain current on device technology and troubleshooting and repair techniques. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate should be familiar with gas chromatographs (Siemens), BTU and moisture analyzers.
