Chevron Phillips is seeking a LDPE Reliability Engineer to join the Manufacturing organization at the Cedar Bayou facility in Baytown, TX. This position is responsible for leading reliability and continuous improvement efforts in our low-density autoclave polyethylene unit. This position works in the equipment reliability group and reports to the reliability specialist team lead.


  • Oversee LDPE Reliability Team to identify, prioritize, and solve Bad Actors including improvements in data collection/monitoring
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure alignment on path forward of reliability solutions including operations, maintenance, global process engineering, corporate engineering, local engineering teams
  • Lead efforts to assess condition of critical equipment and the procedures used to rebuild/maintain that equipment
  • Oversee, monitor and provide input to critical equipment (ex: hyper-compressor) operation and overall rotating reliability strategy. Collaborate with plant and corporate SME’s on rotating and fixed equipment reliability efforts and strategy.
  • Provide input to yearly expense and capital budget plans based on reliability strategy for LDPE
  • Deliver long term vision for preventative and predictive maintenance for LDPE
  • Review Solomon RAM and Townsend Benchmarking Studies and deliver improved on-stream and capacity utilization
  • Help develop mitigation and repair plans that minimize downtime while managing risks for operating critical equipment that are identified as needing significant repairs
  • Support and lead root cause analysis efforts
  • Participate in LDPE Turnaround and outage scope development
  • Participate in LDPE outages, reactor outages and support startup and shutdown efforts
  • Support troubleshooting and LDPE specific capital projects
  • Mentor reliability engineers to grow plant capability and competency
  • Develop and Provide appropriate training and guidance to operations and crafts to improve performance
  • Provide off-site or on-site shop oversight for key equipment repairs
  • Participate in unit quality and process efforts

Required Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • 7+ years LDPE plant experience
  • 12+ years Industry Plant Experience
  • Experience with hyper compressor operation and reliability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred experience with autoclave LDPE process
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis program
  • Familiar with SAP
  • Familiar with Meridium
  • Participant in Industry LDPE conferences and forums
