Chevron Phillips is currently seeking an Analytical Systems Technician to join the Maintenance team at the Plastics Complex at the Pasadena, TX location. The Analytical Systems Technician is responsible for the daily maintenance of the complex’s online process analytical equipment. Primary duties include maintenance and application work on plant Maxum II and Yokogawa analytical process systems involving problem diagnosis, repair, design, revision and installation.


This position works a 4/10 schedule which includes periodic rotating on-call responsibilities. Other schedules may be necessary according to conditions in the complex (turnarounds, shutdowns, control problems, etc) or to complete special assignments from the Technical Services team leader.


Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains Pasadena Plastics Complex (PPC) process analyzers on.
  • Maintains the PPC hydrocarbon, Chlorine and Carbon Monoxide detectors.
  • Provides technical and engineering support.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local PPC procedures and regulations. 
  • Assists in developing procedures and policies to benefit the safety and productivity of PPC.
  • Utilizes SAP to document repairs, purchase parts, confirm time and write notifications.
  • Documents repairs in an electronic and paper database.
  • Promotes the CPC/PPC safety and working philosophy.
  • Attends daily tailgate meetings.
  • Participate in PPC PSM process.
  • Acts as a liaison to and from operations to management.
  • Provides technical consultations to contract engineering firms and project engineers concerning modifications to the analytical systems and plant process field equipment.
  • Participates in the FAT (factory acceptance test) and/or the SAT (sight acceptance test) when required.
  • Assists Analytical Systems Specialist/Control System Specialist in project development and implementation.
  • Provides input to develop SMP's when necessary.
  • Participate in PHR’s and PSSR’s.
  • Creates (PIR’s (Project Initiation Request) to justify new projects being sent to engineering.


Required Qualifications:

  • An Associate Degree related to Electronics or Instrumentation with a minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance service work performed on Siemens Maxum II and/or Yokogawa gas chromatographs.
  • Field experience in the petrochemical industry.
  • Commitment to a 4/10 shift schedule, including nights, holidays, weekends and overtime, as necessary.
  • Proven knowledge of the Siemens Maxum II Chromatographs, Yokogawa Chromatography, Sample Systems, Hygrometers, Oxygen and/or Hydrocarbon detection systems.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of chemistry.
  • Familiarization with process type of control instrumentation.
  • Basic understanding of electronic theory and digital logic system.
