Chevron Phillips is currently seeking a LAN / Server Administrator to join the Information Technology organization located at the Pasadena, TX plant. The LAN / Server Administrator is responsible for supporting server, network, telecom, and infrastructure application systems. This position will participate in project implementations involving multiple technologies, as well as provide after-hours support with other team members and groups outside of IT. This position reports to the Pasadena IT Manager.


Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, monitor, tune and maintain all plant server systems (100+), storage area networks, network printers, SIP telecommunications, VMware (hosts, guest machines, and vCenter), and Nutanix AHV.
  • Manage and configure network infrastructure; switches, wireless, VLANs, and TCP/IP
  • Compliance with change management and business continuity policies
  • Executing IT projects with strong attention to detail
  • Communicates effectively with technology and business teams independently
  • Act as liaison between internal customers and HQ IT subject matter experts
  • Organization and facilitation of meetings
  • Builds effective long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders
  • Collaborates across teams to solve challenging and high-value problems
  • Shares and incorporates best practices from the industry using new and upcoming tools and technologies


Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum education of bachelor’s degree in IT or similar technical field
  • A minimum of 3 years of LAN/Server support and administration experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated collaboration with individuals outside of immediate workgroup
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented collaborative environment, takes initiative, and self-directed
  • Very strong customer service orientation, including evening/weekend work in response to business needs
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and testing abilities
  • Strong commitment to safety


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the following technologies: Microsoft (MS) operating systems, VMware, AHV, Cisco iOS, MS PowerShell, MS SharePoint, NetBackup, Apple iOS, and Citrix.
  • Experience with the following hardware: HP ProLiant servers, Nutanix, 3PAR, Cisco, and Dell Wyse.
  • Knowledge of Agile project methodology
  • Knowledge of processes for change management, cloud reviews, privacy assessments, and project management.
  • Experience with petrochemical plant environments
