Responsibilities

The individual would have at least the following responsibilities:

  • Participate in the implementation of projects that improve plant safety, profitability and efficiency by developing process design studies and providing economic analysis for payout projects.
  • Support operations by trouble shooting unit issues and participating in major unit turnarounds.
  • Support environmental monitoring by participating in emission calculation coverage as needed.
  • Participate in hazard analysis studies, best practice teams and benchmarking studies that improve the safety and profitability of the units.
  • Work with monitoring group to support operations planning and business units by maintaining and improving the economic models for the ethylene unit. 

Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Process Engineer to join our team in Port Arthur, Texas.  This is a position for a process engineer to work closely with various plant groups to support the operation and continuous improvement of the olefins unit, cyclohexane unit, boiler unit and offsites area.  The process engineer is expected to provide process expertise and resources to meet the needs of the plant such as troubleshooting and project implementation.  #HPCP

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in process or plant engienering in support of a chemical or petrochemical manufacturing site.
  • Must have some process modeling experience.
  • Must have strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills for supporting all aspects of the unit operation issues.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills to interact between various plant personnel such as operators and plant management.
  • Candidate should be able to work both autonomously and in cross functional teams.
  • Must be able to organize and have the ability to handle multiple projects and tasks to meet targeted completion deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an olefins or refining facility.
  • Experience with Chevron Engineering Standards (Gray Manuals).
  • Experience with Aspen or ProII process modeling software.
