Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Construction Specialist Lead to join our team at the Sweeny, Clemens and Old Ocean Facilities located in Sweeny, Texas.  This position reports to the Projects Superintendent and will be responsible for providing leadership and subject matter expertise to assist with the development and management of capital and expense projects. Plans, prioritizes, coordinates and aligns the work group activities to ensure that effective services are delivered. Emphasizing safety, productivity, and cost control to completion of each project.  The Construction Specialist will interface with people in roles ranging from crafts to management. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership & support for Project Engineering & Construction Team; maintaining personnel and contractor safety, ensuring process safety and environment expectations are met, and committed costs and schedules achieved.
  • Plans, prioritizes, coordinates, and aligns the work group activities to ensure that projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget.
  • Advocate for safety including demonstrated support of Tenets of Operation and Process Safety Management initiatives.
  • Participates in Job Safety Analyses and the development of safety action plans for high-risk work.
  • Assigns and directs work activities to meet schedule requirements and emergent operational issues.
  • Ensure Execution Project Deliverables are completed in accordance with the project plans.
  • Ensures that all work is performed in compliance with company standards and all applicable safety and environmental regulations.
  • Daily//Weekly reporting on schedule compliance and execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant construction project experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Individual must learn or be proficient in utilizing various computer applications, including SAP.
  • Must demonstrate excellent leadership, communication, written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to understand, update and revise specifications, environmental standards, regulatory standards, in-house safety standards in the above-mentioned field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Supervisory experience.

 

This is an exempt supervisory position and has been posted with the grade of NA. However, depending on the candidate’s qualifications relevant to the position, the assigned grade may be higher or lower than the posted position grade.
