Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a DCS Specialist/Engineer to join our team at the Sweeny-Old Ocean site in Sweeny, Texas.  The candidate joins the Sweeny Process Control team and would be responsible for working closely with the daily operations of the Olefins, NGL fractionation units and Clemens to provide resources for controls related project implementation and maintenance of the DCS infrastructure. #HPCP


  • Maintain, troubleshoot and improve the DCS infrastructure to ensure safe plant operation and profitability
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs for DCS systems, insuring consistency and standardization
  • Develop hardware and software migration strategies ensuring ongoing optimum DCS performance.
  • Perform Microsoft and Honeywell software patching
  • Support expense and capital budget process ensuring successful DCS migrations and upgrades
  • Maintain hot spares systems and parts inventory.
  • Provide input and assistance with Factory as well as Site Acceptance Test activities
  • Review and manage the documentation of system standards, control procedures, DCS architecture and control schemes.
  • Redline drawings affected by hardware and software changes
  • Provide oversite for contract DCS technicians and control personnel.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Associate degree or technical certification in electrical, instrumentation or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting Honeywell DCS in a petrochemical or refining facility.
  • Proficient with the hardware and software components of Honeywell TPS and Experion DCS systems.
  • Experience in developing and implementing DCS hardware and software migration strategies.
  • Experience in software patching
  • Good communication, documentation, problem solving and troubleshooting skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Honeywell Systems and/or Control Engineer certification
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering
  • Expert understanding of Honeywell TPS and Experion PKS DCS systems
  • Working knowledge of Uniformance PHD
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with Triconex SIS Systems
  • Experience with Yokogawa Centum VP
  • Experience with Foundation Fieldbus
