Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Corporate Projects Team.   The Project Engineer supports the project in the development and completion of all project activities including plans, evaluations, reports, and other project related documentation requirements.  The project engineer coordinates activities between Design, Construction, plant contacts, Corporate SMEs, and the project team.

 

The work location will be at the Engineering Contractor’s office and then will move to the Sweeny/Old Ocean facilities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the contractor’s performance against the project’s execution plan, specifically design, procurement, constructability, and material management objectives
  • Coordinates technical studies and value improving practices ensuring all work conforms to the project requirements and our Capital Stewardship guidelines
  • Provides input for the preparation of costs estimates and schedules
  • Coordinates review and approval of deviations from company engineering directives & general design specifications and CPChem specifications
  • Manages the Change process, particularly the Management of Design Change in contractor’s office.  Initiates cost trends/change orders and coordinates review and approval
  • Provides engineering and technical support to the Construction, Commissioning and Start-up teams, by providing resolution of technical issues between Engineering Contractor and Construction Contractor
  • Ensure monthly cost forecasts and reports are timely, complete, and accurate
  • Directs document distribution & control, overseeing the document control center, procedures for drawing numbers, equipment numbers, instrument numbers, revision numbers, use of existing drawings, drawing indices, CAD, other document control needs
  • Provides direction in preparation and review of Project Close-out information including Process Safety Information (PSI), as-built drawings, vendor documentation, and data books.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong personal commitment to safety with leadership the ability to succeed within a diverse cultural environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with at least ten (10) years of experience leading projects in a chemical plant or refinery
  • Experience with CPDEP and Capital Stewardship Guidelines or other project management processes
  • Self-starter with above average presentation, planning, communications, interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has clearly demonstrated strong technical competence, with experience in SAP controls, and cost estimation.
