Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips is currently seeking Electrical Specialist(s) to join the USGC II Project at The Woodlands, TX project office and Engineering Contractor locations. The Electrical Specialist is responsible for assuring that the USGC II Plant design results in safe, reliable daily operations and that the constructed equipment meets process, process safety and environmental requirements. This position will help ensure that the equipment is commissioned properly and result in a safe, orderly, and timely start-up.   #HPCP

 

The initial job location will be at the Engineering Contractor office, transitioning to the project site in Orange, TX and additional project locations as determined. Detailed Design will be performed internationally.

 

The USGC II project includes the engineering/design, construction, and commissioning of a petrochemicals complex in Orange, TX to produce ethylene and high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The facility is expected to have a 2,080 KTA ethane cracker and two high-density polyethylene derivative units with a combined capacity of 2,000 KTA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide capital efficient electrical design input resulting in safe and operable plant.
  • Provide input into electrical technical specifications and design considering safety, capital costs, environment, operability, maintainability, and reliability.
  • Participate in evaluations and make recommendation for key electrical equipment
  • Participate in design verification with third parties
  • Participate in verification of issued for design P&ID's, Electrical One Lines, Plot Plans, Substation Layouts, and critical electrical equipment datasheets
  • Participate in PHA/LOPA as required
  • Participate in 3D Model reviews for cable tray and cable routing
  • Participate with Contractor in development of critical electrical data sheets
  • Monitor the progress of the electrical equipment and substation supplier, including witnessing and Acceptance of FAT.

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Assure package system or other specialty systems FAT's are completely satisfactorily to support safe and effective operation
  • Participate in the technical evaluation of critical electrical equipment
  • Reviews Contractor detailed design documentation and specifications
  • Ensure a safe startup by following tenets, all company and plant procedures, and using available technical resources
  • Assure ETAP power system study module produced by Contractor
  • Assure all Contractor issued lists and schedules including but not limited to cables schedules, I/O schedules, MCT schedules, cable gland schedules, JB schedules, drum schedules.
  • Participates as startup team to ensure the plant is operating as designed and debugged

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or higher in Electrical related field OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years pf experience in chemical processing or a refinery
  • Good troubleshooting abilities
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Self-starter with desire to lead and take responsibility
  • Strong commitment to personnel and process safety
  • Ability to work with peers, company employees, and Contractors
  • Knowledge of Industry Standards
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Must have willingness to mentor and train plant personnel on electrical topics.
  • Commitment to meet and maintain COVID requirements for location of detailed engineering 
  • Commitment and flexibility to work international for detailed engineering.  Commitment to relocate to Orange, TX for construction and start-up.
  • Commitment to stay on the project through startup and stable operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience in chemical processing or refinery
  • At least 3 years of experience in Ethylene or Polyethylene
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Access and SAP
  • Large project experience
  • Experience with PHA/LOPA
  • Willing to travel as needed

Additional Information

  • Detailed Design could be performed in the United States or internationally.
  • Construction of USGC II will be in Orange, TX.
  • International travel may be required.
