Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) is currently seeking an Operational Readiness Coordinator to join the Ras Laffan Petrochemicals Project (RLPP) at The Woodlands, TX project office and Engineering Contractor locations. The Operational Readiness Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the Ras Laffan Petrochemicals Project incorporates the company Operational Excellence and Operational Readiness requirements into the design, project planning and future operation.

 

The RLPP project includes the design, construction, and commissioning of a greenfield petrochemicals complex in Ras Laffan, Qatar to produce ethylene and high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The facility will be developed and constructed in Ras Laffan Industrial City and is expected to have a 2,080 KTA ethane cracker and two high-density polyethylene derivative units with a combined capacity of 1,680 KTA.  The reporting location of this role presents an excellent and unique opportunity in that the successful candidate could work in a variety of domestic and international locations over the next several years. The selected candidate will participate in detailed design at the engineering contractor(s) location, which are yet to be determined, but could be domestic or international.  The project will be constructed, commissioned, and operated in the State of Qatar.  As such, work locations are subject to change based on business need and requires flexibility during the 5–6-year scope of the project.

 

The initial job location will be at the CPChem Project office in The Woodlands, Texas.  The position will transition to the construction site in Ras Laffan, Qatar in the first part of 2023.

 

Due to its international travel requirements, this position has been designated as one in which employees must be Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19 and compliant with relevant COVID-19 requirements of the destination country to which their job duties require them to travel, unless an accommodation/exemption under applicable federal or state law has been approved.  As a condition of employment, a new hire for this position will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination.

Responsibilities

  • Lead self-assessments of Operational Excellence System (Corporate Operational Excellence Expectations) against the RLPP Operational Readiness Plan.
  • Responsible for assuring that development of all required Operational Excellence Expectations (policies, procedures and practices) have been incorporated into planning.
  • Implement systems to ensure sustainable compliance and continuous improvement of Operational Excellence processes over time (compliance routine duties, desk procedures, etc.)
  • Develop an Operational Readiness project checklists delineating compliance with Operational Excellence System Expectations.
  • Coordinate development of detailed Operational Readiness action plans.
  • Establish metrics to measure both compliance level and progress on action plans.
  • Coordinate development of project Operational Readiness management reporting.
  • Monitor progress of Operational Readiness execution and report to RLPP Project Operations & Maintenance Leadership.
  • Lead required project Operational Readiness execution meetings
  • Coordinate corporate gap assessment and Operational Readiness Reviews

Required Qualifications

  • ​​​​Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or EH&S field and with at least 3 years of chemical plant or refinery experience OR a High School Diploma/GED with at least 10 years of plant experience and at least 5 years of experience in Operational Readiness or Operational Excellence. 
  • Must possess include strong oral, verbal and written communication skills; facilitation, organization and system development skills
  • Must be customer-focused and results-driven and effectively collaborate and work with personnel at various levels throughout the company. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Auditing experience
  • Experience with management systems in at least one of the following areas:  environmental, safety, process safety or quality.
  • Key competencies and skills the candidate must possess include strong oral, verbal and written communication skills; facilitation, organization and system development skills.  The candidate must be customer-focused and results-driven and effectively collaborate and work with personnel at various levels throughout the company. 
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications, Power BI, and Office 365.
