Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) is currently seeking an Operational Readiness Coordinator to join the USGCII Project. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the USGC 2 Petrochemicals Project incorporates the company Operational Excellence (OE) and Operational Readiness (OR) requirements into the design, project planning and future operation. 


The USGCII Project includes the engineering/design, construction, and commissioning of a greenfield petrochemicals complex in Orange, Texas to produce Ethylene and high-density Ethylene (HDPE). In addition, the project scope includes the utilities, pipelines, rail and Storage in Transit (SIT) operations required to support PE product logistics rail yard, and buildings required to support the Manufacturing organization. The facility will have a 2,080 kMTa Ethane Cracker and two High-density Polyethylene derivative units with a combined capacity of 2,000 kMTa.


The initial job location will be at the CPChem Project office in The Woodlands, Texas.  The position will transition to the construction site in Orange, Texas for plant construction and start-up.


  • Lead self-assessments of OE systems against Corporate OE standards.
  • Responsible for assuring that development of all required OE policies, procedures and practices have been completed and that the greenfield project is ready for operations upon introduction of hydrocarbon.
  • Implement systems to ensure sustainable compliance and continuous improvement of OE processes over time (compliance routine duties, desk procedures, etc.)
  • Develop a comprehensive OR project checklist delineating compliance with OE Standards.
  • Coordinate development of detailed OR action plans with PMT team members and SMEs (including resource loading, and timing).
  • Develop processes and programs as required to effectively monitor/analyze progress of OR execution and report to Project O&M Leadership.
  • Lead monthly project OR execution meetings.
  • Establish metrics to measure both compliance level and progress on action plans.
  • Coordinate development of project OR management monthly report.
  • Coordinate corporate gap assessment and OR Reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or EH&S field and with a minimum of 3 years chemical plant or refinery experience OR a High School Diploma/GED with at least 10 years of plant experience and at least 5 years of experience in Operational Readiness or Operational Excellence.
  • Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills and be able to evaluate and prioritize multiple tasks to ensure alignment with plant goals while acting with a sense of urgency; be adaptable and possess creative thinking and problem-solving skills. 
  • Must display the ability to interact well with others. 
  • Key competencies and skills the candidate must possess include strong oral, verbal and written communication skills; facilitation, organization and system development skills. 
  • Must be customer-focused and results-driven and have the ability to effectively collaborate and work with personnel at various levels throughout the company.  
  • Proficient with MS Office and have the ability to learn MS Project and Power BI

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience auditing OE systems or experience with management systems in at least one of the following areas:  environmental, safety, process safety or quality.
  • Experience with Power BI.
