Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) USGCII Project is currently seeking a Training Coordinator for the Ethylene and OSBL areas to join the USGCII Project, a greenfield project, to execute the area Training Plan as well as development of Standard Operating Procedures that will support Commissioning, Startup and Daily Operations of the unit upon completion of construction. This position is responsible for all aspects of project Operational Readiness as it pertains to operations training and procedure development. 


The USGCII Project includes the engineering/design, construction, and commissioning of a greenfield petrochemicals complex in Orange, Texas to produce Ethylene and high-density Ethylene (HDPE). In addition, the project scope includes the utilities, pipelines, rail and Storage in Transit (SIT) operations required to support PE product logistics rail yard, and buildings required to support the Manufacturing organization. The facility will have a 2,080 kMTa Ethane Cracker and two High-density Polyethylene derivative units with a combined capacity of 2,000 kMTa.


The initial job location will be at the CPChem Project Office in The Woodlands, Texas.  The position will then transition to the construction site in Orange, Texas.  



  • Administers the OSHA 1910.119 standard
  • Ensures that only qualified and competent operational employees are allowed to perform work
  • Develop initial Operations Training Manuals from project outputs (Operating Manuals, PFD, P&ID, OEM documents, Data Sheets, etc.).
  • Develop initial Standard Operating Procedures (Startup, Shutdown, Commissioning, Normal Operating task-based procedures)
  • Development of training and procedure policies, standards, and guidelines
  • Manages unit Training Manual, SOPs and ensures accuracy of information
  • Documents and measures training progression while managing each trainee through the qualification process
  • Identifies employee deficiencies and determines training needs
  • Evaluates unit employees through various processes to ensure knowledge prior to qualification (area walkthrough, panel review, P&ID review, unit exams, etc.)

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High school diploma/GED with at least 5 years of experience in Ethylene.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications including Power Point, Word, Visio and Excel.
  • Familiar with Smart Procedures application.
  • Experience as a training coordinator or on-shift trainer.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter and comfortable working in a high-paced environment.
  • Must possess a high-level of effective interpersonal communication skills, excellent written, verbal and presentation skills and be able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills that incorporate hands-on activities with application of subject material.
  • Proven performance managing schedules, meeting deadlines, and display of organizational skills.
  • Proven leadership skills for ownership of processes related to Process Safety Management. Ability to educate, motivate, and train.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Large capital or Mega Project training development experience.
  • Certification as a Trainer.
  • Experience in Utilities.
