Purpose/Introduction

CPChem is currently seeking an experienced Payroll Operations Representative. This position is responsible for executing payroll for its domestic and expatriate employees and provides backup support for all payroll tax and global relocation. This position is located at CPChem's headquarters in The Woodlands, TX. 

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage payroll cycle from start to finish for multi-state and US Expatriates that includes bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly payrolls. This includes complete payroll processing, importing batches, and balancing payroll transactions.
  • Ensure timely payment order to the banks, employees, and vendors.
  • Process and manage off-cycle payments in conjunction with HR team members.
  • Partner with the HR Benefits team to enter and process executive payments.
  • Review computed wages and correct errors to ensure the accuracy of earnings. Ensure all changes to payroll are captured and paid correctly.
  • Provide customer support and guidance to the HR organization regarding paychecks, taxes, pay implications due to employee record updates, and any funds due to the company. Research and make necessary system updates, as required.
  • Execute periodic, quarterly, and year-end tax filings using ADP Business Transporter Software.
  • In conjunction with third party provider, research and stay current with payroll tax law changes for the tax authorities and coordinate the resolution of tax notices from federal, state, and local tax agencies. Ensure system updates are made to reflect tax changes.
  • Coordinate year-end planning up through the delivery of W2s and the resolution of issues that may arise after delivery. This includes processing W2c and company system adjustments according to IRS guidelines.
  • Audit and validate the information contained in the SAP system by balancing payroll results, general ledger postings and third-party remittance postings. Ensure appropriate controls and risk management procedures are implemented and monitored.
  • Assist with various internal and external audits that take place throughout the year.
  • Participate in special projects as needed by management.
  • Document and maintain payroll operations workflows and work procedures for assigned tasks and job functions. Processes and validate pre and post payroll processes in accordance with departmental internal controls and standards and in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Assistance to develop, review, communicate and deploy new payroll procedures.
  • Partner with HR IT organization to ensure payroll system functionality is maximized.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum education of a High School Diploma/GED.
  • At least 5 years of experience processing multistate full cycle start to finish time and payroll processing.
  • Experience with SAP HR Payroll or SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll.
  • Ability to research and stay current on payroll tax law changes.
  • Ability to validate information contained in various tax reports by balancing payroll results, general ledger postings and third-party remittance postings. 
  • Experience working with an outsourcer responsible for pay distribution, taxes, and garnishments. 
  • Experience coordinating year-end processes and W2 production. 
  • Experience in employee data entry and maintenance.
  • Maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including high skill level using Excel. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
  • Familiarity will BSI Tax Factory.
