Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our team at our Headquarters in The Woodlands, TX.   The Senior Process Safety Engineer will report to the Process Safety Technology Manager in the Corporate EHSS organization. This is a technical individual contributor role, with responsibilities that include providing quality risk assessment services, active participation in initiatives to increase the consistency and quality of risk assessments, and leadership of continuous improvement process safety initiatives in support of manufacturing facilities worldwide.

 

Initially this position will focus on Facility Siting Studies (FSS) but may expand into Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), or other related risk assessments based on the successful candidates experience and interest.)

Responsibilities

  • Global Facility Siting technical subject matter expert
    • Coordinates all facility siting studies and risk analyses with 3rd Party resources
    • Manage and tracks closure of all FSS action items and related PSM Compliance Audit findings.
    • SME and driver for FSS updates.
    • Lead /participate in development /revision of Corporate Facility Siting Related Safety Standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of CPChem process safety work processes
  • Participate in Industry Process Safety organizations where there is value to CPChem.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Must have at least 5 years of petrochemical manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated strong technical and analytical skills, including technical understanding of petrochemical processes and unit operations
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and constructively resolve conflict
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to write technical reports and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to lead work process development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience participating in FSS studies
