Chevron Phillips Chemical Company is seeking an Sr. Cloud Security Analyst at the corporate headquarters in The Woodlands, TX.  This position leads the security strategy and vision of cloud and cloud/hybrid applications of all types, including Infrastructure, Platform, and Software as a Service (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS), as well as the design and development of the Azure and AWS security architectures.  This is a senior staff level position reporting directly to the IT Security Manager and serves as the central point of contact for all matters related to cloud security. The successful candidate partners with leaders across the company to identify opportunities and risks, develop and deliver solutions that support business objectives, and protect the organization’s intellectual property globally.  #HPCP



  • Works with Digital, Engineering, Manufacturing, IT Infrastructure, and Application Development organizations to choose appropriate cloud technology solutions and facilitates complete integration into the company environments.
  • Provides technical leadership and defines best practices for cloud-based system and application security during the design and implementation.
  • Helps guide organization-wide cloud adoption, creates guidelines and guardrails to improve outcomes and manages risks in adopting cloud delivery model.
  • Represents Security Platform requirements during the development and implementation of the global enterprise cloud architecture.
  • Designs and develops security architectures for cloud and cloud/hybrid-based systems.
  • Possesses firm understanding of Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) offerings.
  • Designs and implements cloud-native architectures to meet business requirements with a minimal degree of risk to organization and with the appropriate security controls.
  • Assists IT Security Manager with the development of strategy, roadmaps, and deployment plans for enterprise information protection and cloud platform usage to align with technology, product, and overall business requirements.
  • Maintains up-to-date, detailed knowledge of the IT security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the identification and resolution of vulnerabilities and threat vectors.


 Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum education of an Associate Degree  
  • Must have at least 10 years of experience in IT related work
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience with cloud technologies like Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in IT security
  • Deep understanding of cloud security capabilities and risks
  • Strong security inclination
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong documentation and/or technical writing skills
  • Strong project management and leadership skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS in Computer Science or related field preferred)
  • At least 3 years of cloud-based security experience. 
  • Extensive experience implementing security for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions in a public cloud environment.
  • Experience in multiple development languages (Java, C#.Net, Python) and scripting technologies (PowerShell)
  • Experience in solution architecture, DevSecOps practices and cloud integration.
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture for cloud-based services.
  • Experience working with cloud security and governance tools, cloud access security brokers (CASBs), and server virtualization technologies.
  • Working knowledge of common and industry standard cloud-native/cloud-friendly authentication mechanisms (OAuth, OpenID, SAML, etc.)
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate and/or Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
