We are seeking a Finance Strategy and Planning Manager to join the Finance team in The Woodlands, Texas.  This high-profile position within the department will report to the CFO and will help set the direction of the Finance organization and manage its progress toward that direction as a member of the Finance Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

Finance Strategy

    • Work closely with the CFO and Finance Leadership Team (FLT) to develop and execute the Finance function’s strategy and continuous improvement efforts (including Fostering a High Performing Organization; Enhancing Service Delivery and Capabilities; and Expanding Customer Base and Client Relationships) in support of the CPChem strategy
    • Lead project portfolio development and optimization to ensure we are 'doing the right' projects to achieve our goals
    • Continuously assess the maturity of Finance practices and advise FLT on additional activities/projects needed
    • Manage FLT offsites, extended FLT engagement, and FLT bi-weekly agenda to ensure a focus on the Finance strategy, alignment with the CPChem strategy, and progress toward delivering on both
    • Develop and own the annual review of the Finance strategy and long-term vision 
    • Distill discussions from FLT meetings into strategic and tactical action plans with measurable outcomes
    • Design and execute the Finance communications and engagement plan including Finance Strategy messages tailored for key stakeholder groups (Global Finance Team and our key internal customers) through both traditional and modern channels

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities (continued)

Project and Change Management

    • Lead the Finance project and change management program, to ensure leaders are engaged, people are integrated into the efforts, and the organization has program transparency
    • Establish a sustainable working rhythm for finance teams to support them in delivering their "core " & "project" responsibilities at the same time without initiative overload
    • Serve as the primary liaison with the CPChem Strategic Execution and Engagement office to create transparency and alignment on project management approach and governance, CPChem digital strategy, and other key CPChem-wide projects
    • Play the role of an “activist program manager” in tracking finance project progress, intervening to support project teams where needed, and managing tradeoffs within the project portfolio
    • Support Finance project teams with initiative development, de risking, value delivery, and prioritization
    • Scope, define, resource, and execute special projects defined by the CFO and/or FLT
    • Ensure critical interdependencies between projects and risks are effectively managed
    • Support project look-backs to capture learnings, implement course corrections
    • Lead the Finance Improvement Team to drive efficiency with digital and non-digital solutions to our processes, systems, and controls

Capability Building

    • Develop and execute on the Finance talent strategy & capability building roadmap
    • Monitor and report progress for capability building – identify risks and mitigation action
    • Maintain a strong perspective of current Finance organizational and technical trends and provide recommendations for future or current needed capabilities or tools
    • Support the growth and development of the FLT into an increasingly adaptive team by managing the FLT agendas and meeting cadence, governance, norms and communications, and progress tracking (of desired FLT behaviors)
    • Develop and conduct Project Management trainings for Project Leads / Sponsors
    • Manage the GRAD Program including scheduling, adherence to rotation curriculum, mentoring, and overall performance

  • Ability to independently lead, organize, and complete strategic projects
  • Ability to reprioritize and ramp up fast on multiple workstreams
  • Ability to create and maintain oversight of wide array of projects

  • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form
  • Ability to inspire and motivate colleagues to drive action

 

People Management

  • Ability to manage and delegate to direct reports efficiently
  • Proven commitment and dedication to push projects over the finish line

 

Profile Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 13 yrs experience, preferably in program mgmt., leadership, or consulting
  • Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives
  • Sound understanding or experience of financial operations
  • Proven cross functional work experience while organizing large teams
  • Data analysis experience to guide strategic decision making

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or similar field
