Introduction
We are excited to invite a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Contractor Coordinator in the Materials Handling department based at Cedar Bayou. This pivotal role requires overseeing and directing multiple nested contractors responsible for a range of critical operations including railcar inspection, plant switching, rail movements, track maintenance, railcar washing and repair, and polyethylene railcar loading. The successful candidate will ensure the seamless operation of locomotives, track mobiles, and shuttle wagons, while guaranteeing that all equipment scales are properly maintained and certified. Furthermore, this role involves optimizing and maintaining the railcar loading software to support efficient and reliable operations.
In this position, you will be instrumental in enhancing product loading processes and supporting activities to match the escalating demands of production growth. Beyond operational oversight, you will foster a culture of safety, productivity, and continuous improvement for contractors and provide critical support to CPC personnel. Responsibilities
- Strictly adhere to CPChem Tenets of Operation and Life-Saving Rules, ensuring compliance with EHSS Procedures, Process Safety Management (PSM), Operational Excellence (OE) processes, and all environmental permits.
- Proactively identify and resolve operational or safety issues to maintain consistent safe and compliant work environments.
- Effectively communicate unit operating plans and any deviations to operating and production teams, fostering transparency and coordination.
- Support a culture of continuous learning by mentoring operators, day-shift personnel, and cross-functional support groups.
- Collaborate with project teams in the development, planning, and execution of unit-related projects ensuring timely and efficient completion.
- Assist in addressing customer complaints, analyzing production data to minimize instances of substandard output and improve quality.
- Lead by example as a safety champion, driving compliance with safety processes including Management of Change (MOCs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), critical procedure audits, and safe work procedures.
- Serve as the single point of contact for all rail maintenance activities.
- Implement maintenance prioritization and coordination as outlined in the plant Operations-Maintenance Work Process.
- Coach and guide operators on equipment troubleshooting, ensuring accurate documentation of issues and timely generation of work notifications.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve maintenance workflows, safety protocols, and operational efficiency through innovative problem-solving and collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or a minimum of 10 years’ direct experience in a related role in materials handling or operations.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of facility processes, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience and familiarity with industrial equipment.
- Well-versed in CPChem’s safe work practices and site-specific procedures to promote a safety-first mindset.
- Excellent organizational skills accompanied by meticulous record-keeping and documentation capabilities.
- Resourceful and confident decision-maker able to respond effectively under operational pressures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Self-driven professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging diverse teams and contractors.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence.
- Comprehensive understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of polyethylene loading processes, rail switching protocols, and track repair techniques.
- Experience conducting CFS (Customer Field Service) investigations and resolving issues to satisfactory closure.
- Proficiency with Yardmaster system and iNet applications to support operational workflow and reporting.
