We are seeking a Purchasing Specialist to join the team at our Borger, Texas facility. The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for Specialty Chemical Feedstock Procurement requirements up to $200MM annually.  Responsibilities include collaboration with production facilities along with sales and product management teams in contracting strategy development and execution and ensuring timely delivery and quality of the correct raw or finished materials.   The Purchasing Specialist collaborates with Strategic Procurement personnel to ensure appropriate use of all existing category strategies and contracts that provide value to the business. This includes managing the bid process and documentation to ensure that award decisions are objective and meet with all corporate compliance requirements. Other responsibilities include developing and maintaining processes and documentation as required by Operational Excellence, ISO 9001, Sarbanes-Oxley, Internal and External Procurement, USMCA and Corporate Environmental assessments.  The successful candidate will demonstrate competency and a proven track record in planning, communication, presentations, leadership, collaboration in a team environment and delivering excellent results across the business.   #HPCP

   

Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead effort to develop detailed feedstock procurement strategies to deliver quantifiable value for Chevron Phillips, including commercial terms and performance metrics
  • Interface with all levels of Specialty Chemicals business lines, advise/counsel internal users to ensure understanding of categories that generate cost savings that add value to bottom line, and drive recommendations to full implementation
  • Interpretation of commercial terms, conditions, distribution of risk, and QA/QC
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships to solve problems involving pricing, supplier performance on quality or schedule, or any other matters that may arise
  • Supplier pre-qualification, bid package development, bid clarifications, bid evaluations, negotiations and awards, as applicable.
  • Strong internal collaboration to manage supplier logistics to support production schedule and/or customer demand
  • Create and present feedstock pricing analyses and finshed goods impacts in S&OP meetings
  • Possess subject matter expertise regarding commercial and technology market/trends

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must have at least 3 years of Supply Chain and/or Specialty Chemicals experience with preference to contracting, and an understanding of the legal framework of business, compliance and risk from a business perspective  

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree discipline in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management
  • Prior petrochemical procurement experience
  • Contract negotiation and development experience
  • Contract management experience
  • SAP experience
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Proficiency with MS Office
