Chevron Phillips Chemical Company is seeking a PhD doctoral candidate to fill a summer intern position in the Global Process Engineering organization within Research & Technology. The successful candidate will support process modeling efforts for plant and project activities.


Job Duties:


  • Preparing specialized process models, especially computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models, for process and equipment improvements, optimization, and design.
  • Analyzing modeling results to determine any equipment and/or process performance limitations and recommending optimized performance.  
  • Communicating study results to various stakeholders, including plant operations, plant/corporate engineers, and plant/company management.
  • Monitoring plant performance and quality metrics to quantify any implemented improvements.
  • Supporting plant in any Management of Change (MOC) and other safety related items necessary for implementation of recommendations.



Minimum Qualifications:


  • 18 years of age or older
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States and will not now or in the future require sponsorship by the employer
  • Possess a BS degree in Chemical Engineering and currently pursuing a PhD in Chemical Engineering or similiar
  • Available to work a minimum of eight continuous weeks
  • <span style="font-family:"72",sans-serif">Possess experience using commercial CFD codes in all analysis stages (geometry creation, meshing, simulation, results analysis)
  • Possess strong technical skills, the ability to communicate effectively across the organization, and demonstrate a collaborative work style (with peers, employees, etc.) within and across functions 
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills



Preferred Qualifications:


  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Possess internship or equivalent work experience in a related industry
  • <span style="font-family:"72",sans-serif">Possess experience working with ANSYS® Fluent®
