Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP is currently seeking qualified individuals to join our team as a Process Engineer for our Port Arthur, Texas facility. This position will work closely with various plant groups to support the operation and continuous improvement of the olefins unit, cyclohexane unit, boiler unit and offsites area.  The process engineer is expected to provide process expertise and resources to meet the needs of the plant such as for troubleshooting and project implementation.  The individual would have at least the following responsibilities:

 

  • Participate in the implementation of projects that improve plant safety, profitability and efficiency by developing process design studies and providing economic analysis for payout projects.
  • Support operations by trouble shooting unit issues and participating in major unit turnarounds.
  • Support environmental monitoring by participating in emission calculation coverage as needed.
  • Participate in hazard analysis studies, best practice teams and benchmarking studies that improve the safety and profitability of the units.
  • Work with monitoring group to support operations planning and business units by maintaining and improving Kracker, the economic model for the ethylene unit. 

 

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering is required
  • A minimum of 2 years of process engineering experience is required, preferably working in an olefins or equivalent petrochemical facility. 
  • Process modeling experience using applications such as Aspen or ProII is required.
  • A familiarity with engineering standards such as API and ASME is required, and preferably Chevron Engineering Standards (Gray Manuals).
  • Should possess good problem solving and troubleshooting skills for supporting all aspects of the unit operation issues.
  • The job will require good written and verbal communication skills to interact between various plant personnel such as operators and plant management.
  • Candidate should be able to work both autonomously and in cross functional teams.
  • Given the multifaceted plant support role of the process engineering group, the candidate must be able to organize and have the ability to handle multiple projects and tasks to meet targeted completion deadlines.
