We are seeking a hardworking and determined Construction Specialist student to join our team as an intern for the 2023 Summer. Summer Internship Construction Specialist positions at Chevron Phillips provide opportunities for Construction Specialist students to gain experience in the "real world" work environment of manufacturing facilities. Construction Specialist students are typically assigned a mentor who will direct their summer or co-op work experience. Work or project assignments will be commensurate with the student's academic background to take advantage of their technical expertise and provide real life application of their classroom knowledge. At the same time, opportunities will be provided for students to expand their knowledge outside the boundaries of their classroom experiences.

 

Key job tasks include:

  • Support for construction planning and constructability reviews prior to construction mobilization
  • Review of estimates and bids for construction
  • Monitor work areas to assure compliance with safety goals and initiatives
  • Coach and develop contractors to meet project safety expectations and targets
  • Initiate safe work and hot work permits or arrange for permits in areas of the plant controlled by others
  • Establish a thorough understanding of the project contracts and specifications
  • Respond to contractor requests for information
  • Review of contractor change requests
  • Lead project completion and punch list activities.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States and will not now or in the future require sponsorship by the employer
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Engineering Management or related degree

Preferred:

  • Possess internship or equivalent work experience in a related industry
