Job Title: Plastics Fabrication Technician

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Plastics Fabrication Technician to join our team at our Plastics Technical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  The successful candidate will be a member of the Plastics Technical Center (PTC).  This is a Chevron Phillips facility dedicated to the development of new plastic materials, research and provides on-site technical service to our customers with new market applications.    #HPCP

 

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Will be responsible for operating plastics processing equipment.  This includes various types of industry related equipment designed to convert plastic into various forms of finished product.  Some examples include compounding mixers, material blending and feed hoppers, single and twin-screw pelletizing equipment, injection and blow molding machines, sheet and film conversion lines, pipe production, molding and forming equipment and material testing instruments. 
  • Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Utilize company safety programs to complete daily tasks and inspections.
  • Perform industry accepted repairs and modifications on assigned equipment.
  • Support implementation of PTC upgrades and equipment projects.
  • Individual will be assigned to a primary work area but will assist in various areas to meet business needs.
  • Communicate and cooperate closely in a team environment with PTC technicians, technical service engineers, plastics product line development engineers and research personnel.
  • Must be able to safely operate plastics processing equipment, power and hand tools, forklifts, flatbed trucks while handling/moving heavy loads.
  • Thoroughly document observations and data in laboratory notebooks or computer programs and perform mathematical calculations to determine work order requirements.
  • Some physical lifting is required, including the movement of 55 pounds of plastic materials.
  • May be required to use a full face SCB or cartridge respirator while handling additives and chemicals.

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED. 
  • A self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Experience providing maintenance on and working with large mechanical equipment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required as well as solid interpersonal skills.
  • A valid driver's license. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Associate degree in a technical or related field.
  • Previous experience with relevant plastics processing equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working experience with maintenance of industrial equipment (hydraulics, pneumatics, preventative maintenance, PLC’s, lubrication, etc).
  • Experience with installation, setup, commissioning and troubleshooting of plastics processing machinery.
  • Experience in a Laboratory/Research setting.
