Purpose/Introduction
This position is responsible for supervising multiple crews of hourly maintenance craft employees in accordance with safety and maintenance best practices. Candidates must possess a demonstrated ability to: communicate in a clear, concise, timely manner both orally and in writing; direct personnel and work well with others to achieve goals and objectives; analyze problems, evaluate alternatives and take appropriate action.
Responsibilities
- Effectively manage multiple/changing priorities for multiple craft work crews
- Provide direction, expectations, coaching, and training for staff
- High focus on safety, championing site safety efforts by facilitating daily safety briefings and monthly safety sequential meetings with area craftsmen, by always applying Tenets of Operation, and supporting safety related processes.
- Proactively supporting the PAWS (Personal Awareness Wellness and Safety), POWER (People Observing Work Eliminating Risk) and VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) processes
- Ensures safety, process safety and environmental compliance items are completed accurately and timely
- Sets a high standard of housekeeping in Maintenance and responsible areas, ensuring housekeeping is best in class in the maintenance areas, including shops and field job sites
- Leads or participates in incident investigations, with timely completion of investigations and learnings
- Communicates management policies and expectations to workforce
Responsibilities (continued)
- Proactively controls and communicates maintenance activities with Operations
- Ensures compliance with Operations and Maintenance Work Process (OMWP), with maintenance activities focused on planned work and quality repairs
- High focus on work efficiency, challenging status quo and championing improvement initiatives
- Facilitate the Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs) reviews and validations
- Supports and creatively identifies training objectives for assigned maintenance personnel, such as CBTs and LMS, internal courses and external trainings
- Ensures that operating equipment is properly maintained
- Works closely with other maintenance team leaders and shares resources as priorities require
- Conducts formal and informal performance evaluations
- Seeks opportunities to encourage / enforce Operational Discipline and maximizes moments of high influence with CPChem employees and Contractors
- Develops team priorities to meet plant and departmental goals
- Mentor other employees within Maintenance department or other site organizations
- Responsible for budget development and managing actual costs to meet budget target
- Routinely participate/lead cross functional teams to accomplish the above objectives
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is with at least 8 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably within the chemical, refining or upstream oil and gas industry OR Engineering Degree with at least 5 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably within the chemical, refining or upstream oil and gas industry
- SAP experience
- Excellent skill set for managing and driving change
- Results-oriented to drive improvement and work efficiency
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to coordinate multi-disciplined teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior supervisory experience
- Working knowledge of Industry Codes and Standards such as ASME, API, etc
- Prior maintenance execution experience
