Purpose/Introduction

We are seeking an Electrical Maintenance and Reliability Engineer to join our team in Borger, Texas.  The primary responsibility of is to provide electrical engineering day to day support including the preparation and execution of the electrical portions of small projects for the Borger Plant.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Partner with Operations to proactively identify the daily threats to plant availability and recommend cost effective mitigation strategies and tactics
  • Work to develop and maintain asset care strategies for electrical equipment including preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, maintenance procedures, spare parts, craft competencies, contractor and third-party shop evaluations, failure investigations, and key performance indicators to track program effectiveness
  • Drive the plant's bad actor tracking and elimination program for electrical equipment including root cause failure analysis and corrective action plans
  • Evaluate all electrical projects to ensure project objectives including safety, technical correctness, budget, constructability, schedule, maintainability, and operability are met
  • Serve as the contractor site representative to manage electrical contractors engaged in maintenance and reliability work to ensure jobs are done correctly and safely
  • Review and approve electrical specifications, drawings, and other documentation; assist in compiling construction packages
  • Provide electrical technical support to maintenance, turnarounds, and operations
  • Oversee and provide support for in-plant and off-site repairs of electrical equipment
  • Oversee installation and commissioning electrical equipment with a focus on quality and safety

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Establish and track key performance indicators to identify and make improvement recommendations with respect to maintenance performance
  • Participate in plant Management of Change process as the plant electrical subject matter expert
  • Resolve and plan for obsolescence issues concerning the facilities electrical systems
  • Design and execute smaller maintenance/reliability-type projects including modification and/or addition to the facility's distribution, motors, and motor control systems
  • Serve as plant expert regarding electrical safety including updates to the plant Arc Flash Study and Electrical Safe Work Policy
  • Maintain an effective rapport with Maintenance, Operations, Safety, and Project Engineering groups
  • Follow Borger specific and corporate practices, standards, guidelines, and procedures for preparation of estimates, scopes, specifications, design, and other deliverables
  • Develop hardware, software, functional and user specifications for electrical systems and associated components
  • Provide back up for Maintenance and Reliability Instrumentation Engineer as required

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University
  • Must be familiar with and able to work in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Access
  • Requires the ability to multi-task, organize their work, and meet the facilities work schedules
  • Must possess excellent leadership skills and demonstrate the ability to interact well with others

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of reliability or maintenance experience in an operating plant
  • Experience with Electrical Safe Work Practice (NFPA 70E)
  • Working knowledge of the National Electric Code
  • Working knowledge of low, medium, and high voltage electrical distribution and utilization equipment
  • Experience with ETAP software for model development of plant electrical system
  • Experience working with low voltage variable frequency drives
  • Familiarity with maintenance and installation design of instrumentation technologies including, but not limited to pressure, temperature, level, and flow
  • Familiarity with instrumentation communication including 4-20 mA loops, HART, and Foundation Fieldbus
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLCs using both RSlogix 500 and RSlogix 5000
