Long Description

We have a Quality Control Chemist (QC) position at the Borger Plant located in Borger, Texas.  The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for development, operation, maintenance and support of laboratory analytical equipment including Inductively Coupled Plasma – (ICP-MS and ICP-OES), Gas Chromatography (GC) and multiple other analytical equipment in support of the company's Specialty Chemicals which includes the following products:  fine chemicals, high purity hydrocarbons, organosulfur products, specialty fuels and solvents.  

 

The QC Chemist position is required to engage and collaborate with internal customers (including Laboratory Superintendent, Chemists, Quality Analyst, Operations and Maintenance personnel, Shipping and Blending, etc) along with external customers to meet business needs. 

 

The individual should have good interpersonal skills in communications, both orally and in written form and be able to provide technical support to operations, environmental, shipping and blending that involves routine monitoring, production tests, product quality, process troubleshooting, and abnormal situation unit support.

 

Candidate must be customer-focused and results-driven.  Proficient in applying technical expertise to identify and problem-solve technical issues in time sensitive situations, and the ability to effectively collaborate and work with personnel at various organizational levels throughout the facility and company.

 

The position will develop/maintain QA/QC techniques, procedures, prepare standards used in procedural analysis throughout the lab, and train lab technicians as necessary.  In addition, the QC chemist will assist in maintenance of a rigorous statistical process control (SPC) program to ensure method performance and accuracy of results.

 

The candidate will directly support in the Process Control laboratory interfacing and providing direction to laboratory technicians. 

Required Qualifications

⦁   Bachelor's degree in chemistry or other science field with a minimum of 2 years of industrial laboratory experience.

  • ICP-MS, ICP-OES
  • Acid/base titration (both manual and automatic)
  • Karl Fisher (Coulometric and Volumetric) Water Titrations
  • Flash point and automatic distillation 
  • X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) 
  • UV-VIS spectroscopy 
  • GC, GC-MS 
  • Lab Information Management System (LIMS)

 

This is an exempt job family/individual contributor position.  Final grade determination will be based on the successful candidate's overall qualifications.
