Purpose/Introduction

The Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Department manages our environmental performance, assures regulatory compliance and drives Our Journey to Zero, the company’s blueprint to achieve our goal to eliminate events that could inflict serious–or even fatal–injuries to employees or contractors, or result in severe process safety events.

Responsibilities

  • Field coordination of site waste management system including leading contractor support team
  • Holds daily contractor safety meetings and schedules daily tasks
  • Works closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Special Projects to develop and implement procedures on proper waste handling
  • Will manage vacuum truck operations and the required documentation to maintain compliance
  • Will manage all <90-day waste storage areas and satellite accumulation areas to ensure compliance
  • Site Lead for management of spills/releases
  • Must maintain a focus on Safety, Diversity and Inclusion, Tenets of Operation and Guiding Principles daily
  • Represents the site during agency inspections and negotiations
  • Will be required to work Turnarounds (Day / Night Shift)
  • Will be responsible for PO creation and invoice management for waste vendors.
  • Will take daily direction and guidance from Sr Waste Specialist

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 8 years Chemical/Refinery experience is required
  • Be able to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization
  • Be able to handle multiple tasks concurrently and meet deadlines
  • Manage and work closely with onsite waste contractors
  • Effective at working with different departments and contractors in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a science related discipline
  • Outstanding practical knowledge of waste regulatory requirements, the chemical processing industry, and applicable Federal and State environmental regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to serve a broad range of company personnel, project teams, and our contractors
  • Should be self-motivated, customer-focused, and results-driven
