Purpose/Introduction

The Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Department manages our environmental performance, assures regulatory compliance and drives Our Journey to Zero, the company’s blueprint to achieve our goal to eliminate events that could inflict serious–or even fatal–injuries to employees or contractors, or result in severe process safety events.

Responsibilities

  • Develops Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health programs and procedures targeted at reducing occupational health risks
  • Manages Industrial Hygiene, Medical Surveillance, Wellness, Radiation Safety, and Chemical Hazard Communication programs to sustain and improve the Occupational Health performance of the plant
  • Plans, directs, and manages the development of related occupational health training programs
  • Monitors and maintains knowledge of current and proposed Occupational Health and Chemical Substances regulations and provides related information to stakeholders
  • Manage Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health program to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements and ensure that effective systems are in place
  • Provides subject matter expertise (SME) and consultation on matters related to Industrial Hygiene, Medical Surveillance, Wellness, and Medical Case Management
  • Selects third party contractor service providers/SME and serves as liaison with providers

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Manages medical records for the Cedar Bayou facility
  • Manages medical/first response services, case management, and return-to-work reviews/clearances for Cedar Bayou personnel
  • Manages Cority ® Medical and IH Modules, including security access, and enables training for stakeholders
  • Supervise the work activity of 2 CIH/CSP, 2 RN/BSN, and supporting industrial hygiene and medical contractors
  • Develop proactive goals for department to ensure accountability and execution of internal department performance expectations
  • Ensure routine work is executed thoroughly and in a timely manner
  • Ensure appropriate internal and external reporting of incidents is completed thoroughly and according to prescribed timelines
  • Actively participate on corporate best practice team(s)

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Manage expense budget and propose capital projects that improve plant performance relating to industrial hygiene and occupational health
  • Communicate and advise Plant Management on classification of injuries and illnesses in conjunction with Corporate OE group
  • Develop strategies and systems to sustain a zero injury/incident performance. Bring new ideas forward on improving the Cedar Bayou health and safety culture, relating to our pursuit and achievement of Zero injuries and incidents.
  • Evaluate changes for impact to health programs
  • Prepare health plans for major capital projects and turnarounds. Supports major capital expansions and projects.
  • Assist with incident investigations to ensure adequate corrective actions have been established to prevent impact on employee/contractor health

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, Nursing or closely related safety or occupational health field
  • At least 7 years of Industrial Hygiene and/or Occupational Health professional experience in the petrochemical/chemical industry operations or other diversified multi-national manufacturing operation
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in Industrial Hygiene and/or Occupational Health.
  • Experience with application of OSHA 29 CFR § 1910, General Industry Standard requirements and associated regulatory interpretations/compliance directives/Federal Register Notices
  • Possess strong leadership and facilitation skills and be proficient at solving complex problems and analyzing unique issues
  • Highly motivated and be a self-starter able to organize and manage multiple tasks concurrently as well as work with limited supervision
  • Strong reading comprehension skills, persuasive communication skills, both oral and written, as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Customer focused, results driven, and have the ability to effectively collaborate and work with personnel at various levels throughout the Company
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Industrial Hygiene or Health Related Field
