We are currently seeking a qualified IPS Coordinator to join our team at the Cedar Bayou Plant located in Baytown, TX.  This CPChem position, a member of the Technical organization, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Operation and Maintenance phases of the ANSI/ISA-84.00.01-2004 SIS Lifecycle Model. 




  • As needed, assist in the developing of procedures for Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Pre-Startup Acceptance Tests (PSAT), Basic Process Control System (BPCS) testing, etc. and participate in the test.
  • Develop IPS testing schedule and monitor schedule compliance.
  • Work with others to ensure proper documenting of IPS PM schedules by entering them into SAP.
  • Coordinate IPS testing activities working with Operations and Maintenance teams.
  • Ensure IPS documentation and data integrity are maintained.
  • Support training of Operations, Maintenance and Technical personnel in the IPS management process.
  • Support the IPS MOC and Alarm Documentation and Rationalization (AOA) processes.
  • Review PHA reports and assist in development/change/removal of IPS as necessary, including developing procedures and validation


Required Qualifications:


  • A minimum of 5 years of direct experience with process control/automation systems (DCS and PLC) and instrumentation in a petrochemical manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to read and understand design documents such as P&IDs, instrument loop drawings, schematics, Booleans, etc.
  • Experience with lifecycle management of instrumented protective systems.
  • The candidate must be a self-starter, should have the ability to multi-task, and possess good organization and time management skills.
  • The candidate must possess excellent leadership and communication skills and must demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with internal and external organizations such as operations, maintenance, engineering, plant management, and contract personnel.
  • Must have the ability to resolve conflicts with other functional groups and reach agreements with those groups to be successful.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Associates Degree in Instrumentation, Electronic Engineering Technology, etc.
  • Knowledge of the ANSI/ISA-84.00.01-2004 (IEC-61511 Mod) standard
  • Experience with Microsoft Access and SAP
  • Ability to read and understand PLC logic (ladder, function block, structured text) programs
