Purpose/Introduction
We are seeking a qualified Senior Benchmarking and Optimization Engineer to join the Olefins Process Optimization team at our Cedar Bayou Facility in Baytown, TX.
Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for completing, interpreting, and driving gap closure efforts for both Solomon and Townsend benchmarking studies for the Olefins and PE units at Cedar Bayou
- Develop guidelines for conducting Solomon and Townsend benchmarking studies, ensuring consistency in data collection year after year
- Analyze and interpret study results to guide units and the site in closing benchmarking gaps.
- Addresses questions or concerns regarding benchmarking studies and quartile management for leadership
- Lead brainstorming sessions to generate projects and optimization strategies for benchmarking gap closure
- Serve as an optimization engineer on the Process Optimization team, providing senior-level support and filling in for other optimization engineers as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering
- At least 12 years of experience in petrochemical or refining industry
- Previous Solomon or Townsend Benchmarking experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate with all levels of the organization
- Excellent time management skills
- Positive attitude and ability to maintain team harmony
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in Power BI
- Olefins or polyethylene experience
- Maintenance or operations experience in olefins or polyethylene unit(s)
