Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips is seeking an Instrument/Electrical (I/E) Technician Lead to join the Conroe Plant. This position provides work guidance to I&E group in the Conroe Maintenance Department, and reports to the Operations/Maintenance Superintendent. The Conroe Maintenance Department is instrumental in ensuring all equipment is maintained properly so that the Conroe Plant can achieve safe, reliable operation of its Soltex and Utilities Units.

The qualified candidate will support the entire facility in maintaining all Electrical equipment and Instrumentation. This position will serve as Lead for the I&E group, providing work guidance to one I&E Technician for run/maintain activities, as well as provide support for I&E improvement efforts, including projects.

Responsibilities

  • Uses Tenets of Operation and the Operating Hierarchy as core tools to drive decision making and behavior.
  • Follows all site Safety policies/procedure, as well as Standard Maintenance Procedures for tasks.
  • Proficient in using P&IDs, schematics, and loop sheets.
  • Maintains and repair all site Electrical equipment, including MCCs.
  • Repairs and calibrates flow, pressure, level, and temperature instrumentation.
  • Installs or removes field and panel mounted equipment.
  • Repairs and calibrates pneumatic and electric actuated control valves.
  • Installs and sets pressure, temperature, flow, level switches, and monitoring devices.
  • Performs PMs on site electrical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoots equipment failures.
  • Examines process conditions and impacts to recommended improvements.
  • Improves and enhances teamwork, plant organization, and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • High School GED or Diploma
  • At least 4 years of industrial experience as an Electrical Technician.
  • Ability to read equipment prints and secure information from OEM manuals.
  • Proficient with measurement tools like voltmeters
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to complete projects safely and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work across multiple groups within the Facility.
  • Willingness to ask for outside assistance and work with Corporate and External SMEs.
  • Self-starter with a keen ability to multi-task
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions in technically difficult situations. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical Certification (NCCER or Journeyman license) with experience working on equipment up to 480V.
  • Electrical expertise with exposure to or experience working with Instrumentation.
