Purpose/Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical Research and Technology Center, located in Kingwood, Texas, is currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team as an Environmental, Health and Safety Supervisor. This position reports directly to the R&T EHS & Reliability Manager and is accountable for leading the EHS / Operational Excellence program at the Kingwood site.
Responsibilities
- Supervise EHS professional staff and contractors as need.
- Provide knowledge and consultation to other departments and projects on EHS.
- Demonstrate environmental, health and safety excellence at the Kingwood facility. Lead by example.
- Lead, in coordination with R&T research and operations, efforts to identify, evaluate, and control hazards through various processes and activities.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with EHS company, local, state, federal, and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Develops strategies for regulatory and proactive EHSS programs and manages strategic initiatives to develop regional-based programs and procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement, implementation, and maintenance of EHS policies & procedures.
Responsibilities (continued)
- Conduct periodic audits of potentially hazardous work areas, operations, work practices, and procedures.
- Manage emergency response, radiation safety, contractor safety, medical surveillance and industrial hygiene programs for the location.
- Manage EHS related training program.
- Oversee the program for site safety committees including VPP, Incident Response Team, Spill Containment Team, etc.
- Represent R&T organization on EHS committees and best practice teams.
- Evaluate operations for environmental compliance and provide environmental support.
- This position plays a key role in the R&T Innovation Fast Forward improvement process.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or related discipline.
- Must have at least 6 years of experience in EHS, process, or laboratory operations.
- Ability to interact well with others and work in a team environment. Ability to promote, and thrive in, a learning environment.
- Ability to interpret strategy / complex requirements and translate into practical site level policies and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and be able to evaluate and prioritize multiple tasks to ensure alignment with projects and department goals while acting with a sense of urgency; be adaptable and possess creative

Preferred Qualifications
- EHS or engineering degree
- CSP, PE, or CIH credentials
