Purpose/Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking an advanced degreed person to perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis and advanced process modeling at our Research & Technology location in Kingwood, Texas. The advanced modeler will provide CFD expertise to internal manufacturing facilities and work closely with existing personnel to develop simulations and explore alternatives in established and emerging CFD software to evaluate industrial problems and deliver value. Additionally, the advanced modeler will work on evaluating new technologies (such as more sustainable options) and providing recommendations to apply these technologies to current or future industrial operations.
Responsibilities
- Execute projects using CFD (computational fluid dynamics) to evaluate flow and reacting systems for process troubleshooting and optimization
- Advance new technologies through technology identification, economics, and process design using engineering packages
- Advance process modeling through application of science and engineering fundamentals to provide innovative solutions to CPChem operations and risk management decisions
- Build and maintain relationships with peers, clients, and business partners
- Utilize proficient oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate in technical and nontechnical business environment
- Be an innovative self-starter with solid planning and analytical skills, requiring minimal supervision.
- Employ teamwork skills with demonstrated ability for contributing to cross functional teams to meet business and technical objectives
Required Qualifications
- PhD Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or equivalent
- Experience using commercial CFD codes in all analysis stages (geometry creation, meshing, simulation, results analysis)
- Advance process modeling through application of science and engineering fundamentals to provide innovative solutions to CPChem operations, sustainability, and risk management decisions.
- Awareness and application of Safety and Environmental principles, procedures, and regulations are always required, including personal safety, plant operation, and process safety design
- Effective teamwork skills with demonstrated ability for contributing to cross functional teams to meet business and technical objectives
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with peers, clients, and business partners
- Proficient oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate in technical and nontechnical business environment
- Ability to analyze plant operations, apply process knowledge and identify solutions to various technical issues. Demonstrated ability to apply creative problem-solving methods.
- An innovative self-starter with solid planning and analytical skills, requiring minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively assess and prioritize process improvement opportunities, sell the concept, and lead implementation of improvements to make a substantial contribution to the business. Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of developing and executing CFD simulations in ANSYS Fluent or MSTAR CFD
