Purpose/Introduction

We are seeking Electrical Technician(s) to join the Operations & Maintenance team for the new Golden Triangle Polymers facility located in Orange, TX that will be operated by Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up. This position will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations.

 

Initially, the Electrical Technician(s) will serve as SME for the project phase. They will assist the project through collaborating with contractors, participating in PHAs, supporting MICE classification, drawing review, etc. Following start-up, the job functions will transition to a more traditional role characterized by normal plant operations.  #HPCP

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the Mechanical Integrity of equipment to achieve safe, reliable, and incident-free operations
  • Work with the mindset of “One team one result”
  • Follow safe work practices, basic maintenance procedures and enthusiastically contributes to a safe work culture
  • Support the project through document review and line walk downs, to ensure correct installation of equipment
  • Serve as SME for facility while construction and commissioning are ongoing
  • Maintain, remove, and install all electrical related process equipment up to 138kv, including UPS systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), variable frequency drives (VFD's), all types of electrical switchgear, complex shutdown systems, etc.

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Troubleshoot electrical process equipment, motor control, and shutdown systems
  • Work closely with plant operations evaluating work request for both routine and shutdown electrical work
  • Provide feedback to Planners regarding job plan execution improvement as well as equipment BOM issues to be corrected in SAP.
  • Review and update maintenance equipment procedures and work with PM coordinator and training coordinator to create new equipment maintenance procedures

Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to identify problems and draw conclusions in challenging technical situations
  • Capable of finding drawings, utilizing electronic document systems, and consulting vendor manuals
  • Ability to interpret and understand electrical drawings, schematics, PLC logic, and equipment manuals
  • Ability to diagnose and locate circuit, component, and equipment faults
  • Ability to troubleshoot using test equipment. (Voltmeter, test gauges, laptop, etc.)
  • Ability to work overtime, split-shift hours, holidays, call outs, and 12-hr rotating shift schedule as required.
  • Physical Requirements: climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and performing a wide range of physical activities at various heights

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 5 years of industrial experience as an Electrical Technician performing maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must have experience with electrical distribution systems up to 13.8 kv
  • Knowledge and/or training in the NEC and NFPA 70E
  • Knowledge of PLC/electrical network design, software programming, and hardware implementation
  • Experience with motor starter/switch gear troubleshooting for A/C and D/C systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in an electrical field OR have completed a documented accredited apprentice program
  • Experience with SAP
  • Project experience with new installations
