Lab Analyst - GTP

Purpose/Introduction

We are seeking a Lab Analyst to join the Technical Team for the new Golden Triangle Polymers facility located in Orange, TX that will be operated by Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up. This position will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations.

The Lab Analyst will be responsible for performing technical laboratory duties in support of the production units at the chemical plant. Initially, this position will be focused on Operational Readiness, ensuring the plant is properly commissioned and supporting a safe, orderly, and timely start-up. Following start-up, the job functions will transition to a more traditional role characterized by normal plant operations.  #HPCP

Responsibilities

• Performs work in compliance with all safety, environmental, and health regulations 
• Performs work in compliance with the Lab’s Quality Manual and any site quality management systems 
• Maintain proficiency in required laboratory test methods 
• Proficient in adhering to and executing Lab Standard Operating Procedures 
• Performs a high volume of routine tests with a short turnaround time 
• Regularly gathers data for charts, records, and reports 
• Verifies calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment 
• Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs laboratory instruments and equipment 
• Communicates quality issues with operating units and other customers 
• Safeguards all laboratory test results 
• Uses StarLIMS (LIMS), Biovia Notebook (ELN), Ensur (DCS) or other applicable software for data and records documentation 
• Monitors the inventory of essential laboratory supplies 
• Orders supplies and services based on Company and Lab policies and procedures 
• Conducts analyses of data to validate and assess the performance of test methods

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED with at least 2 years of relevant work experience OR an associate degree in process technology or related field OR a Bachelor’s degree in a science related field
• High level of personal integrity, professionalism, and a team-oriented approach 
• Self-starter with minimal need for supervision 
• Ability to perform multiple and frequent tasks with a high level of focus and attention to detail 
• Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain highly specialized instruments/equipment 
• Strong communication skills 
• Excellent time management and organizational skills    
• Familiar with using Microsoft Office 
• Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Operating needs will dictate work schedule. Initial work schedule will consist of working days with transition to a 12-hour rotating schedule taking place closer to the startup of the facility.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory 
• Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) 
• Experience with instrument control software 
• Experience in ASTM and ISO 9001 quality systems 
• Experience with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
