Introduction
We are seeking a Lab Technician to join our team in Orange. As a Lab Technician, you will perform a variety of technical laboratory tests and procedures independently, collaborating with diverse teams to ensure product quality and safety. As a Lab Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our manufacturing and project teams through precise testing and analysis, ultimately influencing quality outcomes and the delivery of our products to customers.
Responsibilities
As a Lab Technician, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting a wide range of laboratory tests and analyses independently, adhering to our strict safety protocols and quality standards.
- Engaging in lab non-conformance investigations related to quality and safety incidents, coordinating with quality personnel to determine appropriate actions.
- Quarantining nonconforming products and ensuring accurate documentation throughout the process.
- Performing verification and maintenance of lab equipment, ensuring all instruments are operating optimally.
- Maintaining an organized storage system for finished samples and ensuring all retain samples are tracked and archived appropriately.
- Facilitating the collection and tracking of laboratory waste in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Actively participating in team meetings to improve processes and share knowledge.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following required qualifications:
- A High School Diploma/GED with at least 2 years of higher education in a science-related field or equivalent relevant work experience.
- The capability to work independently with minimal supervision once fully trained on tasks.
- Strong focus and attention to detail, especially while performing repetitive tasks.
- Proficiency in operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining specialized laboratory instruments and software.
- Excellent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite.
- A valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates may also possess the following preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a science-related field with at least 2 years of experience in an analytical laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with Chemstation chromatography software.
- Experience in polyethylene laboratory testing and analysis.
- Knowledge of operational functionalities for equipment such as melt index testers, hot presses, GC, FTIR, XRF, and densimeters.
- The ability to climb one level of stairs for railcar sampling as needed.
- Strong understanding of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Quality Management Systems, Good Documentation Practices, and Good Laboratory Practices.
