Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to join the Maintenance team in the Utility-OSBL unit for the Golden Triangle Polymers facility located in Orange, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the commissioning, startup and operation of a new plant from the ground up. The successful candidate will be an advocate for safe work practices, a self-starter, possessing above average computer skills, and capable of effective collaboration across disciplines and departments.

 

During the construction of the facility, this position will be actively involved in the development of maintenance programs and processes required for an operating facility. During commissioning and start-up (CSU), this position will be a key maintenance leader for CSU activities. Following startup of the facility, the job responsibilities will transition to a more traditional role characterized by normal plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that established safety goals are attained
  • Reviewing applicable SMP’s with craftsmen prior to executing work
  • Participating in the development of quality job plans by working with planners and participating in field walk through
  • Supporting budget development and managing actual costs to meet budget target
  • Coordinating with Planning staff
  • Utilizing SAP systems to improve reliability, cost tracking, planning and scheduling

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED with at least 10 years of related experience OR an Engineering Degree with at least 5 years of related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • A self-starter who can work with minimal supervision  
  • Ability to prioritize work to align with goals
  • Proven leadership and administrative abilities
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Direct maintenance experience with rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, extruders, rotary valves, and blowers
  • Working knowledge of industry codes and standards such as ASME, ANSI, API, etc.
  • Previous maintenance planning experience
  • Prior experience as a craftsman or engineer
  • Previous Supervisory experience 
  • Experience with SAP Material Management and Plant Maintenance modules
  • Previous mega project experience
  • Experience implementing and/or maintaining CPChem PSM and RMS standards
