We are currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team as Mechanical Planner for our plant located in Orange, Texas.  This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining mechanical equipment job plans and schedules using SAP.  This position will also coordinate routine maintenance work with operations, contractors, internal support groups, and 3rd party service providers.  Primary focus will be routine maintenance with occasional focus on small turnarounds, small maintenance projects and unit shutdowns.


The successful candidate will be proficient in the following:

  • Provide leadership to ensure maintenance activities are performed in a safe and incident free manner, meeting all Process Safety Management and Health, Safety & Environmental requirements;
  • Develop and maintain maintenance job plans, schedules, and estimates using SAP;
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of effective job plans and schedules with multiple organizations;
  • Ensure maintenance efforts are focused on quality repairs and improved plant reliability;
  • Plan, schedule and coordinate work via standardized maintenance work processes;
  • Integrate reliability strategies into maintenance work processes; 
  • Proactively work with peers to improve maintenance efforts for the entire site;
  • Identify and implement methods to improve maintenance productivity and effectiveness;
  • Effectively coordinate/facilitate group meetings to meet goals and objectives;
  • Interface with the procurement department to ensure optimization of contract service;

  • Creating BOM’s and PM plans;
  • Create job packets (as needed) which include:
    • Job Plans
    • Technical documentation (e.g., photos, drawings, technical specifications, etc.)
    • Feedback form
    • Build and validate job kits as appropriate (parts, tools, etc.)
  • Create purchase requisitions and reservations for necessary materials, equipment, or services;
  • Build and update task lists (job plan library) for recurring jobs;
  • Ensure necessary changes or improvements are incorporated;
  • Revise task lists from job feedback forms.
  • Coordinate and track rental equipment for the maintenance department

This position offers the opportunity to work in a team environment; working closely with other departments, customers and peers as necessary to ensure they are provided with quality maintenance services.  The successful candidate will be an advocate for safe work and housekeeping practices, will possess basic computer skills, will be a self-starter/self-motivator and capable of working and communicating effectively with others. The successful candidate must be willing to become a champion of the maintenance workflow process and insure strict compliance from all work groups.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of a  High School Diploma or GED.   
  • Must have at least 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a chemical/refining environment.  
  • Past experience must include coordinating the execution of the maintenance job plans and schedules. 
  • Must be proficient with MS Office and SAP.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience using SAP planning and scheduling tools.  
  • At least 3 years of maintenance planning and scheduling experience interfacing with customers. 
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, equipment drawings, and piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs).
