Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) is seeking an Operations Maintenance Coordinators (OMC) to join the Operations team for the Golden Triangle Polymers (GTP) facility located in Orange, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up.

 

Initially, the OMC will support the execution of phase 4 project objectives, spare parts, and Operational Readiness activities. These objectives include, but are not limited to, assisting the ITPM Coordinator in setting preventative maintenance frequencies, assisting in the development of the SAP equipment methodology, developing equipment functional locations, relief valve and IPL testing plans, coordinating initial pipe thickness measurements, supporting vendor and operations with line labeling, and participating in MICE reviews. Additionally, this position will assist the operators to ensure a safe, compliant, reliable start-up and operation of the new facility.  Following unit startup, the job functions will transition to a more traditional role characterized by normal plant operations and will act as the liaison between Operations and Maintenance in scheduling and executing maintenance activities. The successful candidate for this position must possess a strong safety focus, job knowledge, leadership skills, a positive attitude, organizational and communication skills. 

 

This position will be assigned to the project location in Orange, TX and will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a safety and compliance role model and leader.
  • Accountable for operation of the unit by following the "Tenets of Operation", EHS procedures, Process Safety Management, Operational Excellence processes and operating within the environmental permit requirements. 
  • Responsible for maintaining working relationships and communications between Operations and Maintenance.
  • Familiarity with the function and criticality of equipment. 
  • Ability to gain understanding and overall knowledge of the new facility.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities for improvement on plant processes.
  • Ability to trouble shoot unit issues and recognize when to get other resources involved.

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Leads team to ensure and communicates that operating equipment is properly monitored, maintained, and readied for maintenance.
  • Openly supports best practices.
  • Maintains open and effective communications on and across operations shifts, unit leadership, maintenance, functional support personnel, EPC contractors, and on-site contractors.
  • Effectively communicate to stakeholders’ deviations to operating, maintenance, reliability, and projects plans in a timely fashion. 
  • Communicates effectively on issues across the organization.
  • Provides and facilitates ongoing communications between Operations and Maintenance staffs.
  • Provides leadership to employees and brings together issues as needed to maintain and improve the Unit.

Skills / Abilities

  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of operations/maintenance experience.
  • Previous experience as a work-up OMC.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Experience with PHA/MOC/PSSR/JSA processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OMC experience.
  • Experience writing/reviewing procedures and training manuals.
  • Experience with project activities such as, pre-commissioning, system walk down punching, PSSR, and commissioning/startup.
  • Working knowledge of Meridium.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or a similar scheduling tool.
