Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) is seeking a Rotating Equipment Reliability Specialist to join the Golden Triangle Polymers facility in Orange, TX that will be operated by Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP.  This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up. 

 

This position will join the Golden Triangle Polymers Reliability team and would be responsible for working closely with the Operations and Maintenance teams at the Olefins, Polyethylene, and Utilities units. Initially this position will be more project focused ensuring that systems are setup and in-place for a safe startup and reliable plant operations. Following startup, the job functions will transition to a more traditional rotating equipment specialist role characterized by normal plant operations. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting the plant’s rotating equipment lubrication program.

 

This position will be assigned to the project location in Orange, TX, and will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations.  #HPCP

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensures reliability of assigned plant equipment
  • Champions or participates in development and implementation of Asset Strategies (including FMEAs) for machinery
  • Optimizes and maintains spare parts requirements for critical machinery
  • Creates turnaround scope documents for machinery overhauls; participates in turnaround work execution with QA/QC, hold point witnessing, ensuring proper documentation is kept, and ensuring reliable return to service
  • Provides technical input for machinery upgrade projects, including rerates
  • Provides technical troubleshooting and repair support for site
  • Input recommendations into Meridium APM and validate work order history for turbomachinery
  • Provides SME assistance to corporate central engineering and other CPChem sites as needed and requested
  • Provides backfill support to area Rotating Equipment Reliability Analysts or Engineers as needed and available for vacation and training relief
  • Manages equipment inspection programs designed to ensure compliance and reliability of plant equipment

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Ensures proper documentation to result in a reliable return to service
  • Issues recommendations in Meridium APM to perform routine maintenance for a major overhaul or as indicated by vibration analysis and/or machine performance
  • Works with the Vibration Analysts on the installation and maintenance of vibration and axial position systems to prevent catastrophic failures
  • Serve as a company representative to provide inspection services at contractor shops to ensure quality workmanship on the repair or overhaul of plant equipment, the testing and assembly of new equipment
  • Fosters a teamwork approach by collaborating and working closely with Operations, Technical and Maintenance personnel along with corporate and factory experts
  • Develop, issue, and maintain inspection and maintenance procedures as requested
  • Provide training to Maintenance, Operators and Technical personnel as requested

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with at least 10 years of experience with rotating equipment
  • Knowledge of vibration fundamentals, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of various rotating machinery problems
  • Demonstrated experiencing tracking and driving improvement in reliability KPIs
  • Ability to communicate with cross functional teams and communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
  • Experience with equipment deficiency reporting, tracking, and resolution
  • Experience providing oversight and leading field overhauls of critical rotating equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Polyethylene and/or Olefins production
  • Knowledgeable in new construction and/or repair of rotating equipment
  • Knowledgeable in lubrication standards and/or analysis for rotating equipment
  • Knowledgeable of pressure-relieving devices
  • Experience in rotating equipment root cause failure analysis
  • Experience with online condition monitoring systems and hardware (BN 3500, Orbit 60, System 1, Prognost, etc.) and/or experience with API 670 vibration protection systems
  • Experience with API seal support systems and/or formal certification or knowledge of vibration analyst category 1-4, mechanical seals, dry gas seals, pumps, compressors and turbines
  • Experience with Meridium APM and/or SAP
  • Condition monitoring program experience
  • ICML MLA I or MLT I, or higher
  • Root Cause Analysis Training and experience as a facilitator
