Purpose/Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical is currently seeking a SIS Engineer/Specialist to join our team for the Golden Triangle Polymers Company facility in Orange, TX. The successful candidate will assist with the SIS design for the Ethylene Unit during the project phase. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the startup and operations of a new plant from the ground up. This position will be located in Orange, TX for site construction and commissioning, ultimately transitioning to the team as part of the Operations following startup. #HPCP
Responsibilities
Key Project Responsibilities Include:
- Work closely with the Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) Company to:
- Review SIS Equipment data sheets
- Ensure SIS design and layout complies with various safety and “safety-in-design” requirements
- Review and verify Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS)
- Review and verify PHA/IPL Analysis recommendations and revalidations
- Review and verify detail design SIL calculations
- Support SIS Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) procedure development and FAT Execution
- Support SIS Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) procedure development and execution
- Participate in HAZOP/LOPAs, PSSRs, and MOCs
- Support Degradation Operation Analyses (DOA) and development of procedures
Responsibilities (continued)
- Assist with development of SIS and Mechanical Integrity Covered Equipment (MICE) preventative maintenance plans
- Coordinate list of SIS spare parts and parts turnover after Plant Mechanical Completion (PMC)
- Manage SIS lifecycle program and processes.
- Serve as local expert for SIS industry standards, and gatekeeper for all SIS changes and modifications.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement plans and processes to ensure preventative maintenance testing is completed successfully on time.
- Perform corrective and preventative activities on control systems in operating units during daily operations, equipment turnarounds, and projects.
Responsibilities (continued)
- Troubleshoot and lead failure analysis on instrumented equipment and recommend corrective or preventive measures.
- Perform factory acceptance tests of instrumented systems at vendor’s shop.
- Coordination of programming and participation in new projects involving instrumented safety systems.
- Programming and configuration of simplex PLC’s, redundant fails safe controllers and distributed control systems.
- Commission instrumented systems during scheduled outages
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, or similar engineering field and at least three (3) years of experience in maintaining/designing process safety instrumentation OR High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience.
- Strong commitment to safety
- Strong knowledge of automation/control systems including: DCS, PLC, Safety Instrumented Systems, function block and ladder logic programming, relay logic, industrial instrumentation and electrical equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 7 years of direct experience in maintaining process instrumentation in a manufacturing plant, preferably refining or petrochemical
- Previous Ethylene manufacturing experience
- Compressor control systems experience
- TÜV FSEng or CFSP/CFSE certification
- Factory training and previous experience with programming and maintenance on Simplex PLC’s, Honeywell Fail Safe Controllers, Triconex TMR systems, and/or Yokogawa ProSafe systems
